The game always starts at the same location even if you closed the game after travelling far from where you started. Inventory objects (other than chests) disappear when you close the game then reopen it. On a PC, the up-arrow key moves you forward and shift-up-arrow moves you forward faster, but not much faster, and only the shift key on the left side of the keyboard works, not the shift key on the right which is next to the arrow keys. So it takes both hands to move at the speed you want. Meanwhile, you have to use the mouse to rotate your perspective, so you have to stop moving to change direction. Because of these limitations the game is maddening slow and boring. In my opinion this game doesn't even clear the bar to be called a beta version.

There's no story, no tutorial, no hints and no upgrades. Not really worth the dollar I spent on it.
This game has the potential to be a decent little time killer, however in its current state it is a boring slow and glitched walking simulator. The game load in and you are dropped on an island with only one direction, find 100 chests. There is no reason for this, nor are rewards given during play time. Your walk at a crawl, and even holding shift to run barely exceeds this slow pace. Much of the game world is badly rendered with objects floating off the ground, and plenty apparently solid objects which you can walk straight through. The only item you pick up are books, but these cannot be interacted with in the inventory, and if you quit the game and reload at a later time they disappear from your inventory. Hoping to see improvement of the game in future updates, including a faster walking speed, shift as a toggle rather than a press and hold button. Some form of story line included, even in a limited form, and a reason for opening all the chests. In addition, the inventory bug fix...
I'm playing Steam games in alphabetical order and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/5l-fer6s-7Q Prefer to read? 100 Chests is a first person exploration game that tasks you with finding 100 chests, as the name implies. There are two levels to explore: A series of islands, and a forest at night. Graphically, the low poly is okay, and consistent, but the animations and placement of assets leave much to be desired, such as floating objects, and inconsistent collision detection - some trees can be walked through, some cannot. There is music present, but it is abysmally quiet, and there are no options to adjust the sound or graphical levels. Movement is incredibly slow, even when holding shift to sprint, the inventory UI is unexplained and the cursor remains on screen after closing it. Some items (coins) don't appear in the inventory after collecting them. Collected items also are lost if you exit the game and then return to it later. Most egregiously, there is NO HINT SYSTEM,...
The game has quite a nice landscape and the principle is easy to understand but sometimes it's rather eternity searching to find out where to get the last achievements.
