So I've been in love with point and click games since I played Sam and Max, and later curse of monkey island. I'm not a die hard old school style of point and click games. I appreciate the embracing of new art styles and game mechanics. Having said that I have 3 categories of point and click games in my library. Meh, Good and Epic. This is firmly on the epic shelf. I freaking loved this game. I just finished it and turns out there a multiple endings so re-play value already! Which is not something most point and click games have by nature of the gameplay. First, the voice acting is 5 stars, not one character is bad or seems out of place. The sound quality is good, and the VA's bring so much life to the characters, and not just the main characters, the townspeople as well. Impressions after 30min: Comedic point-and-click with a period Americana setting. Full voice acting. Liking it so far.

An AVG that can use many different methods to advance the plot is great. Other AVGs often only use a single answer to solve puzzles. This shows the ambition of the creators and the great amount of time and energy they put into the game development, which is really admirable. The plot has become a little exaggerated and self-indulgent since the middle period, and the use of the deus ex machina plot at the end is a little regrettable. When experiencing the rich content of the first chapter, I originally thought that Betty was a person who could choose her own good and evil behavior, but I didn't expect her to be extremely chaotic later. The mayor's evil attributes are also portrayed vividly, but it seems anticlimactic after the plot is changed back to Betty. Of course, I have only just finished one ending, and there may be content that I haven't discovered. In terms of puzzles, most of the puzzles are well coordinated as the plot progresses. Whilst I will praise the game for having some interesting and well crafted puzzles I can't really recommend the game. It is a long game so anyone with around 10 hours in the game probably haven't gotten to the end, the length of the game is a problem not because it is long but because the length is just bloated dialogue, cutscenes and inane references to other media that did not need to be in the game. The opening few hours were fine but the longer you went into the game the more you forgot what the game was or why Betty was doing anything that she was doing because you were constantly in 10 minute long jokes that stopped being funny after the first 30 seconds. There are very few characters that are likeable in the game, Betty is not a fun character to play as then they switch you to a worse character nearer the end of the game and it just continues to grate on your nerves how much you don't care what happens to this town.
