About This Game

Berserker's Descent is a visceral, hardcore Roguelite.
Descend into The Source and engage in brutal melee combat, making the most of your diverse attacks.
Tightly designed and balanced, combat is easy to pick up, and hard to master. Die, learn, and try again.
Play online with your friends or strangers.

Key Features:

  • As you delve deeper into The Source, you'll find new special attacks to augment your moveset. Will your keep your Netherlauncher to quickly juggle foes? Or equip a Hyper Grenade Throw for the pure explosive carnage?
  • You'll also equip unique items all with special effects. Buy the items that supplement your play-style, and combine them for devastating synergies.
  • Play long enough, and you'll learn advanced techniques to swing the fight in your favor. Perfect-Cancel to speed up your attacks, Dash-Guard out of harm's way, and aim your attacks precisely to change attack properties and deal more damage.
  • A variable difficulty meter makes sure you're playing to your limit at all times. If you can avoid getting hit, you'll multiply the souls earned for dispatching foes. Of course, enemies will also become more numerous, and aggressive.
  • Between the arenas, you'll dash and double jump through quick platforming challenges. The faster you are, the better the rewards.
  • Slay monsters together with simple lobby based online co-op.
  • Unlock new classes with different stats.

Big props to the developer for completing this early access properly, most devs would abandon the game with those sales a long time ago. The game improved a lot, not just since the EA release date, but even from a few days ago, particularly when it comes to rebalancing enemies, it feels so much better now. I know it looks ugly and the animation is not exactly appealing, but it's a really fun game for replay value, it has a lot is going on under the surface with the attacks cancels, dodge-rolls, stagger mechanics, juggle mechanics and other compounding upgrades. Not to say that everything is perfect, the hitboxes in this game is something you going to have to learn by trial and error, and the platforming can be a pain in the butt. The game is not too complicated, ultimately you just have to rely on your reflexes and you don't have to utilize all the fancy moves, but the combat variety does make it more enjoyable, there are more than a few ways to swing the sword, plus all of the timing ...

It is a capital crime that this game hasn't received more exposure and it is the sole and single most damning thing I can pit against Steam is that it forces unseen gems like this to compete against a landfill's worth of absolute and total trash, asset flips and achievement count enhancers. The game plays somewhat like if you pared down both the amount of dimensions to a DMC game as well as your moveset. Every character's moves function the same with minor differences between different characters (The berserker and rampage's air heavy multi-hits, the magus's standing heavy throws out a magic blade). Add to that procedurally generated roguelite gameplay, with items to build to enhance yourself, and new moves to use either dropped from bosses or bought with souls, a currency best recieved by keeping your style bar cranked to maximum and never getting hit. The game largely avoid an old and tired facet of roguelike games, wherein they try to offset the frustration of a lost run's lost pr...

This game is actually really good. Its a really ugly game. The art isn't great. That said, the gameplay is phenomenal. I can't believe how good it is. I mean it is super enjoyable and difficult. You feel super awesome clearing rooms perfectly and then boom dead. You have to be on point all of the time. The upgrades are plentiful, you don't feel like you are sitting there getting strung along. Constant upgrades and you get more souls the more butt you kick and the game gets harder. Its super fun and I love it.

The Game: The game is a rouge-lite side-scroller mixed with a brutal melee combat system *Risk of Rain meets Dark Souls, if you will* With simple graphics and addictive gameplay. The Good Things: Combat feels great. Shifting between normal Light/Heavy attack's to special move's is very smooth and rewards good timing with faster swings, more I Frame's on dodge's, ect. The game has a very high skill sealing that feels extremely satisfying to get better at. The Mixed Things: There is a lot of different perks too choose from as you go through you're run. they, however. Have a lot of balance problems. Example. Why would I choose to push my enemy slightly farther away from me with each hit when I could just increase me DMG so I can kill them quicker? More then likely done just so you don't get the ultra OP perks as much The Bad Things: The platforming room's. Some of these room's feel like they're made for you to move slowly, decreasing your score multiplier, thus making it slightly anno...

Berserker's Descent might look a little odd at first, but the combat is outstanding! Steep learning curve, very hard to master, and really fun. I personally am a complete sucker for rogue-likes, and this is an absolute gem! Haven't struggled this much in a game quite a while, it's really nice and refreshing to have a truly challenging skill-based game like this. So if you like a challenge and enjoy intricate, but intuitive combat mechanics, please, support this developer and give this game a try!
