A really good game, clean crisp graphics, good theme tune and some challenging levels . Weapons are interesting and unique with enough for at least two or more playthroughs . A promising multiplayer and level editor adds to the overall replayability making the small asking price more than reasonable. Looking forward to more!

Abacus is fantastic retro fun. Just on the right side of tough, it's challenging without being frustrating.
Abacus may seem like a simple retro platformer, but underneath its cute and charming surface is a deep and unique game. The campaign levels each have their own unique challenges and mechanics, making completing them very rewarding. The weapons are inventive and fun to use, and the care that has been taken in designing them becomes clear in the multiplayer, in which you have to pick the right one for each situation and try your best to survive the mayhem. It even has a level editor! Cannot recommend highly enough.
(Ooh, unsurprisingly struck a nerve! Replies to the lying dev are in edits throughout.) When I dropped an honest review for Abacus in the past, I was pressured to take it down, which I can but won't post screenshots of. But that's corruption (Edit: Look up nepotism), and part of then-ongoing borderline psychological abuse so here we go! (Edit: That was the "disagreement". It's a "nasty thing to do", and we aren't friends anymore due to it. This review exists because I now have freedom to say the game is crap.) Honest feedback isn't wanted because feelings mean more than people's wallets, but now it shall be given publicly because that's what's right, and because this game needs a bit of a whistleblower from inside. Almost all reviews for this game is by somebody listed in the credits. (Nepotism.) Firstly, some behind-the-scenes is necessary to appreciate where I'm coming from in this review: I'm credited in this title as a tester or something along with most of the others, however t...
This precision-puzzle-platformer-shooter is the closest thing to actual childhood nostalgia I've experienced on Steam. You can 100% earlier levels with upgrades attained later in the game, which earns you stars that you spend on further upgrades to make later levels easier. Enough hours of harmless light fun to keep you busy, and with the level editor it becomes something more unique. It's good.
Abacus is an excellent new take on classic 2D platforming. A perfect mix of story, heart, fun & tricky gameplay and 2D platforming at it's best. Secret areas, collectables, witty narrative, it's all here. But it doesn't stop there, the multiplayer is addictive and can get pretty heated! With a variety of game modes on tap, I've managed to lose hours blasting my mates and capping flags. The soundtrack will get stuck in your head and the art style will charm you into forgetting any frustrations you may have after missing that jump for the 5th time haha! A great buy for 2D platform veterans and new comers alike.
Quick, fun retro platformer! Abacus gets the 'challenge' balance just right, with levels never feeling too frustrating, but completing each one still feels like a triumph. The artstyle is charming and the controls are smooth, even for someone (like me) who usually finds platformers hard to grasp. I'll admit I haven't played around with the level designer or multiplayer mode yet, but they're certainly intriguing extra features! I paid full price for this game happily, it's a solid game for anyone who wants to get lost in a fun & challenging pixelated world.
Pretty awesome 2d platform game. It seems like early-access done well - the levels are challenging, but not impossible; I was able to remap the controls as I don't use WASD and I haven't run into any bugs (apart from the spiders in the game!) yet. I initially thought the Virtumart was a pay-2-win concept, but not at all, just collect the in-game stars and go and buy useful game items there.
A fun and fast paced challenge that will have you patting yourself on the back for completing levels will relative ease early on and pulling out your hair as you run face first into a mine in the final levels. Certain levels play around different styles/mechanics to keep it interesting. Took me about 3 hours to finish but haven't gone back to get 100% of the stars. Looking forward to seeing how this game develops.
An enjoyable & satisfying venture! This is a fast-paced challenging game. If you're into your 2D platformers, this is one to add to your collection! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger? In this game, you will die, a lot, but that's all part of the challenge of it. I'm sure there are more 'hard core' games out there, so I'm not calling this another Dark Souls, but the skill you learn from playing makes it a satisfying venture. On the note of satisfying; when I complete a level I found myself clenching my fist and raising it in the air XD As you progress the change in environments keeps the look of the game fresh & I enjoyed the music all the way through - quite catchy (still got it in my head)! The weapons are cool, there's a few puzzles along the way, controls are well tuned, and there's collectables! Well worth the price :)
