About This Game

The universe was once peaceful, a place where magic and technology co-existed and everyone strove for the greater good. But then, many thousand years ago, a freight ship crashed on the home planet of the Rok'lin, a primitive species of warriors. Quickly, they studied the alien technology and built an army of spaceships, powerful enough to conquer entire worlds. The few survivors of their attacks joined them in what would become the Ancient Empire. But some resisted, forming a powerful alliance: the United Planets.

Millennia later, the war has calmed down. But distrust lays deep within both factions and fights break out regularly.

EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE

Fly through space with your own ship and fight against enemies. Buy and upgrade spaceships at one of the local space stations. Or beam down and explore many different, procedurally generated planets.

DUNGEONS

Fight powerful enemies in deep caves and high towers. Be quick and vigilant to survive their attacks.

QUESTS

Various people and, apparently, fungi will give you quests that will reward you with experience and sometimes weapons and armor. But you can't trust everyone, so it's up to you to make the right decisions.

FIGHT

Pick one of 5 different weapons, each with unique abilities and talents. Are you a fire mage, a healer, or a protector?

MULTIPLAYER

You can play alone or with your friends. Regular dungeons are made for 5 people - but don't worry because NPCs will join your group if it is too small.

CRAFT

Choose a profession and advance it to craft powerful items. Become a tailor, blacksmith, jeweler, enchanter, and more.

BUILD

Thanks to a custom-made engine, there are almost no limitations: build with mini cubes that are just 0.5 meters in size, with a maximum building height of over 2 km (4096 blocks).

COMING SOON...

Cube Universe is currently an Alpha, but we're getting close to the Beta. Here is a short list of the planned features. Additionally, more content like new planets, quests, or dungeons will be added.

Improved multiplayer (coming in Alpha 0.7)
Server list (partially working already), friend list, playing the same character on multiple servers, recruitment tool for dungeons etc.

Mods and user-generated content (coming in Beta 1.0)
Support for easy modding, including a terrain editor for custom terrains with custom quests. Most of the content is already defined in XML and Lua files, so we will only have to add some logic that loads user-generated XML files and some code for interaction between different mods. Additionally, the Lua API will be expanded to support more advanced mods.
Mods will not only be easy to create, but also easy to install - if you connect to a modded server, you will not even have to manually install mods since this will be done automatically.

PvP (coming in Beta 1.1)
Fight other players on battlegrounds. Possibly including vehicle combat.

It's a very curious game (in a good way) with huge potential, if you want to see the game grow then support it, if not play the demo and keep an eye on it. The technical achievement is impressive and the scale of the landscapes can be stunning.

This game is everything I have ever wanted in a space game. Infinite variations of planets to explore, while not having a game where you have to sit and grind for hours for a ship. It is also not a game not solely based on survival. And it has multiplayer!!!!!! At 8$ this game is a must have. ps. Devs if you are reading this I can’t wait to see what you are going to add. (I would make this review longer but that just leaves me with less time to play this game) (Update) when I have had problems the I went and created a discussion and got an almost immediate response from the dev and he was very helpful with issues and suggestions I had

I am changing my review not because the game actually plays better on my system, but he offers a free trial. This allows you to test the game on your system and if it lags as on mine you do not lose any money. Thank you beosar. I feel that a free trial is a smart move.

I purchased this game intrigued by what the description had to offer. I don't recommend it in its current state. I found the concept interesting, but sadly the gameplay didn't even tickle the itch because of low quality animations and lack of activity. I liked the idea of building/customising vehicles shown in the youtube video made by the developer and the more realistic looking furniture shown in the preview snapshots on the store page. I originally purchased this game with a low-spec pc, because it could run minecraft without a problem I assumed it would run Cube Universe and it did not - and I have no clue why, because it has nothing in it that should require a higher spec pc. I purchased a new pc with mid-range specs and the quality didn't improve.

This is like Runescape leveling system, Skyrim races, No man´s sky ambition and Minecraft Infinites world had an orgy and then created something that had all of that and a lot of love. This is the best and most relaxing experience that i ever had with a sandbox(even though its just an alpha!) Give it a chance, although it may look weird and like a minecraft clone its MUCH MORE than that

It's back to steam! Hope to see some momentum form for this game. Its by a one guy dev team, they take feedback decently, and the game is pretty interesting. The game is a creation out of love, I think it's worth looking into at least.
