However, my biggest issue with Odyssey is its level scaling system. Enemies constantly scale to your level, meaning you never really feel stronger, no matter how much you grind or upgrade your gear. The satisfaction of outleveling enemies and returning to dominate old areas is completely gone. Every encounter feels artificially difficult — not because of smart AI, but because the game adjusts numbers to match you. It turns progression into a treadmill rather than a power fantasy.
Pros
- Epic story with a satisfying ending (if you don't murder every single person you meet) - Kassandra is a goated protagonist (with an actual fun personality, which is nice) - The side characters are fun and memorable (especially my goat Barnabas I'll never forget you) - Great and fun side content that sometimes you forget the main story and start side questing into oblivion - Myrrine's theme song (and other soundtracks) are so good it makes me wanna cry - The map is so big and immersive that it's easy to spend 100+ hours getting lost in ancient Greece (the world is beautiful as well)
Cons
- Some areas of the map can feel a bit repetitive due to copy pasting certain areas (but then again, this is Ubisoft making the game, not Rockstar or CD Projekt Red, so it's to be expected) If you liked the Witcher 3 you will like this. 10/10 the best Assassin's Creed I've ever played.
So good. There's a brutal amount of content here if you are a dirty completionist like me. I played through everything and enjoyed nearly every moment. The Atlantis DLC was awesome. The characters, the missions, the map, the combat, everything - top notch. While the fact that they still charge $60 base for a 7 year old game is criminal, it is worth the money for the quality of the game and the amount of time you will likely spend playing it. It goes on sale a lot though.
After playing Assassin’s Creed Origins, I was curious if Odyssey could top it — and in some ways, it does, but in others, it feels a bit too much. The setting in Ancient Greece is absolutely breathtaking. Sailing across the Aegean Sea, climbing the massive statues, wandering through Athens or Sparta — the game nails the atmosphere. It’s one of the most beautiful open worlds I’ve ever explored. The RPG mechanics are even deeper here — branching dialogue, multiple endings, skill trees, and loot everywhere. Choosing between Kassandra and Alexios was a nice touch, though most players (myself included) agree Kassandra feels like the “true” protagonist. The naval gameplay also makes a great comeback — commanding your own ship never gets old. But here’s the downside: the game is huge. Sometimes it feels bloated, with too many side quests that aren’t always meaningful. Level scaling can also be annoying, forcing you to grind or do filler missions just to keep up. After...
HUGE GAME LAUNCHING PROBLEMS ON WINDOWS 11 - The game needs 10-15 minutes to start up to the main menu. - The game needs another 10-15 minutes to load the save! Fix the bug Ubi!
This game is absolutely stunning — the landscapes are breathtaking, and I often found myself simply stopping to admire the beauty of the world Ubisoft created. Although combat skills are still necessary (and in my case, I only truly mastered them after nearly 200 hours of gameplay!), I can wholeheartedly recommend this title. In my opinion, it is the most moving and exciting entry in the entire saga. The music is powerful and emotional, the story is captivating, and the characters are simply lovable. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is not just a game — it’s an unforgettable journey.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey ★★★★★★★★★★ [10/10] ☀︎
Intro And what a real odyssey it was. This is the game that got me playing all of the previous titles in the Assassin’s Creed franchise before actually completing this entry. After just a couple of hours in, I was hooked - I thought to myself, “I should play the whole franchise first,” and I did. With its ups and downs, Assassin’s Creed has been one of my favourite series ever since. The RPG elements, the Greece and its mythology setting, and the progression system really stood out. The narrative is engaging, and the modern-day segments are intriguing enough to keep curiosity alive. Once again, Ubisoft delivers breath-taking landscapes. While the company has lately leaned heavily into microtransactions, Odyssey manages to remain satisfying. Despite its massive size, its never-ending progression kept me playing - which is one of the most important factors in a game for me. Even if a sto...
By far one of my favorite games. Even though I took seven years to beat it, I am awful at finishing my games, it has been such a joy to play it. My love for the Greek world and mythology is huge and this game took the cake. It also is my introduction to the AC series and has me wanting to finish Origins and Valhalla as I own both. Although my hours are high, I actually beat the main story in 56 hours and had replayed the first 6 episodes twice as I had lost my first save years ago due to my gaming laptop dying. The story and its world is beautiful- it really touches you to consider your choices wisely as some choices lead to different endings. The mechanics can get a bit annoying and there are some aspects of the game, like sailing, that I do not like, but overall the game is beautifully made with love from the developers.
Game feels like a chore after a certain point, which for me was like 20 hours in. Unlike RDR2, or Witcher 3, in which the size of the game is the appeal, here the size of the game becomes a burden. I struggle to find the motivation to churn through and finish the game and probably am done here, barely making a dent in the main story. So many of the side quests lack any substance and are the same formula of random back story, generic kill bandit / thug / soldiers and report back. The sheer number of quests you can undertake is just overwhelming, and I think that is where the game loses its identity. Instead of sticking to core AC lore, with a focus on detailed locations and architecture and stealth, it tries to be a RDR2 or Witcher 3 with way more open world game play. Which is fine, but they went for quantity over quality. So each new region you move to offers nothing new or unique other than the scenery, which loses its luster quickly since a bulk majority of the game play exists in ...
