I really enjoyed the game. Getting to prestige 30 was fun to do. In the beginning it was challenging but at the end it turned more to a waiting grind. Putting it to x7 speed helped to keep it fun. The achievements were not so fun.

This game is really fun. Love the style, the unique map layouts and buildings, it's all really great. But after about 2 hours, starting my second cliff city, it starts crashing every 10 minutes. Really hoping that gets fixed asap. Can't recommend buying it until that's fixed.
TL;DR: A brilliant idea that will trick you it is good until you start to notice horrible flaws of the game. NOTE: Played on Linux with RTX3070 and another Linux machine with GTX1650, works flawlessly on both. I love city building games and this one has a really nice idea. Basic premise is that player needs to save humanity after Earth experienced nuclear winter. Player starts game on 3 cliffs but some of them might have water, some might be uneven and some might be split into multiple cliffs but act as one cliff (so inter cliff bridges will form by themselves unlike those that player needs to build between major cliffs)! The setting is in a distant future where apparently air traffic is the way to go. And here is the first flaw of the game: naturally I would be tempted to build streets but on the cliff player should save space and those roads are optional (even in the act 3 where game opens up third area with 'a lot of space'). Player don't need any roads nor any city struct...
Cliff Empire is a refreshing and ambitious city-building strategy game that transports players to a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has retreated to towering plateaus above a flooded Earth. Set in a beautifully imagined steampunk future, the game challenges you to construct and manage a thriving city on the edge of cliffs, balancing survival with growth as you contend with limited resources, environmental hazards, and evolving technology. From the moment you begin, the game offers a compelling blend of exploration, management, and problem-solving that requires both strategic foresight and careful micromanagement. The core gameplay revolves around constructing your city vertically and horizontally on the cliff edges, where space is scarce and precious. Unlike traditional city builders that spread outward on flat terrain, Cliff Empire forces you to think creatively about how to optimize the limited building area, managing not just residential and industrial zones but also ensuring...
While the premise sounds cool, the UI and especially the tutorial are confusing at best - after starting a game, I couldn't figure out how to get to the settings (ESC just opens a save menu), or how to exit to start; the tutorial kept disappearing, and I gave up after 5 minutes of staring at the UI trying to figure out how to build something (after all, the tutorial told me to build a storage, without any explanation on how)
It's a city builder but it barely matters where you build anything - no roads for example. Edit: by this I mean that yes, logistics is entirely crows-flight distance. For me this removes a lot of the soul of a city builder (not having any people except when they walk off the ship also contributes to this).
I personally LOVE this becaus it's like Sim City. It has a futuristic approach to it and is a different take on a classic series.
One of the best city building strategies I've played
This game is an absolute gem! I purchased it in the AI Olympius bundle for the TPS steam sale, not expecting much but open for a surprise, and man did i get one. Amazing depth of progression that goes way further than most other city builders i've played. Beautiful aesthetic very reminding of the second act of Nier Automata with the tower. The music is relaxing with a similar vibe to the endless space 2 ost. 40 Hours in and I still haven't seen all there is to offer. A high recommend to anyone who loves city builders without the intense strategy struggle. My only complaint is the UI of city needs, while it's not horrible, and does present the information in an understanding way, I do feel it could be improved past orange and yellow boxes. Excited to see AI Olympius whenever i'm done obsessing over this title!
After 5 years and 500 hours, I finally feel compelled to review this game. Excellent. Cliff Empire is a unique and compelling mix of resource management, logistics, and base building. It is not perfectly balanced in every aspect, and success often depends on specific build sequences, but the experience is consistently rewarding. The visual styling, soundtrack, and overall artistic composition are stunning. It feels like retro-futurism imagined from a future years past, and I love it. If you enjoy city-builders and resource management, this game deserves a place in your collection.
