Video (gameplay + commentary): https://youtu.be/I7r6uE__k6g This game is a great handful of minutes of fun. It's not long, but it's a great little snapshot of some fun arcade twinstick shooting with crunchy pixels and some nice rolling scenery that you don't have to take remotely seriously. A+++++ would defend our hive again!

About This Game
This is the first game from the worlds most inexperienced developers. A perfect game to play while stuff downloads in the background!
Features:
- Original hand-drawn graphics!
- Original soundtrack!
- Online leaderboards!
- Gamepad compatibility for twin-stick action!
This game is the culmination of 3 friends who wanted to make a video game but didn't have a remote idea as to where to start. Half-way through development, we hosted a panel at the 2017 RetroGameCon in Syracuse, NY. We told the crowd we'd release this game on Steam when it was ready. We're following through on that promise!

BeeFender is a badly made GameMaker Studio construction kit game (but it's not an asset flip... the game assets are too poor quality to be professionally produced). This GameMaker Studio job has you twin-stick wave survival shooting around your beehive to protect it from incoming enemies. Occasionally a spider will fling a web at you and fix you in place for a while. There's different phases to the game, but it's not worth progressing, even for the easy achievements. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your disp...
This game is fuckin' delightful but on the real though, bears can go fuck themselves. Same with spiders too. Beefender brings an awesomely creative setting / idea to the arcade shooter scene, and I was more than happy spending less than a dollar on it! I mean, who the fuck thinks up the idea to play as a bee defending it's hive by shooting a butt gun? Fantastic! Check out some gameplay here! - https://youtu.be/xHeN3HFfxGE
As the number 1 Beechampion I got to say that this game is pretty ok. Its got quite a few problems that I rather describe in video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrorFJJN0SI&feature=youtu.be Overall it just needs a little more work before it's ready to get out of early access. Final Grade: Bee+
It was fun for a few minutes but I will likely never play it again after today. "Stage 2" sprites got very blurry, dont know why, but at least I placed in the top 10... Recommendations: - Bee hive shield - HP bars - FULL MMORPG Support - Better User Feedback - Prepare for meaner people
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Ooh, black and yellow! Let's shake it up a little. Barry! Breakfast is ready! Coming! Hang on a second. Hello? Barry? Adam? Can you believe this is happening? I can't. I'll pick you up. Looking sharp. Use the stairs, Your father paid good money for those. Sorry. I'm excited. Here's the graduate. We're very proud of you, son. A perfect report card, all B's. Very proud. Ma! I got a thing going here. You got lint on your fuzz. Ow! That's me! Wave to us! We'll be in row 118,000. Bye! Barry, I told you, stop flying in the house! Hey, Adam. Hey, Barry. Is that fuzz gel? A little. Special day, graduation. Never thought I'd make it. Three days grade school, three days high school. Those were awkw...
