About This Game

When Rosa Blackwell's only relative dies after twenty years in a coma, she thinks the worst is over.  This all changes when Joey Mallone, a sardonic ghost from the 1930s, blows into her life and tells her that she is a medium.  Whether they like it or not, it is up to them to cure the supernatural ills of New York in this critically-acclaimed series of point-and-click adventure games.
When three NYU students kill themselves one after the other, nobody thinks that a sinister force is at work.  Nobody but fledgling medium Rosa Blackwell and her new spirit guide Joey Mallone.  It's trial by fire as they set these troubled spirits to rest.

Rather lovely point-and-click adventure, mystery game. While this mostly feels like it sets up events for the future games, I quite liked it already. A really solid, short story. I absolutely adore the self-contained nature, even if I wasn't going to play the other games, this is a neat experience. HUGE props to the music and sound design, really worked well setting the atmosphere and building the tension. The voice acting also was very nice. Overall a very solid job. Admittedly, I did kinda get stuck in one part, but due to the smaller scale of the game, it wasn't exactly that difficult. Some of the puzzles did have more involved solutions and I only struggled, Because it has been a while since I've played these games.

A classic, amusing and poignant P&C game in my collection, even bought it twice to support the developer. I'd created my own characters based off the lore on the first game, which is this one, Legacy, because Rosa and Joey were one of the most compelling and emotionally grounded characters in a game I'd witnessed! Their connection in spite of the forced proximity trope is hopeful and their interactions are tinged with a pensiveness to not repeat the piece of history that Rosa has inherited. Whilst it's clear WadjetEye and Dave were just starting out in their craft and this seems unpolished, the fact that the latter developer came back five years after to whip it more into shape was nice and shows his dedication! Play it once without any walkthroughs to experience it, play it twice and turn on the commentary to understand how cool the behind the scenes were and why you should (somewhat) forgive some of the more obtuse game design choices in some parts. Worth your five bucks. It is th...

Game initially fees nice. Better than average dialogue and ok art style. However I'm not sure if game has been botched with "Steam deck" compatibility update, but it's very buggy and it's easy to lock your progression by mistake and not be able to continue. Same garbage happened to Gemini Rue. Anyway these days game is at least pure diahrea. Stay away. 2/10

First and foremost, this game is too short to cost as much as it does. There are better and far longer free games out there. Second, this game forgets it is a game far too often and turns in to a visual novel/animated movie. I timed it there is one section that takes control away from you for about 15 minutes and that is with me skipping through the dialog without waiting for characters to finish their sentences. Keep in mind that this game can be finished in less than an hour if you just power through it. I have 5 hours on record for it because I was mostly doing other things while I left the game running. Third, the game contains about a dozen characters yet only like 4 of them are relevant to the plot. Fourth, while I liked the music it is often way too intense for what is going on at the moment. Fifth, if it was tidied up a bit better, the story could make sense as a intro chapter to a larger story. On its own, it is just a build up to nothing. There is no proper buildu...

The Blackwell Legacy is a compact but compelling entry into the world of narrative-driven, supernatural noir adventures. Its strength lies in its storytelling, atmosphere, and emotionally grounded characters—especially Rosa and Joey. While the game is short and its puzzles may not challenge seasoned players, it's an excellent starting point for anyone eager to explore the rest of the Blackwell series. If you enjoy thoughtful, mood-focused storytelling and don’t mind a brief—yet poignant—experience, give this charming indie gem a try.

A mostly fun adventure, if a few puzzles that were weird or few moments of awkward exposition. Still really good for and can't wait to see it expanded upon in the later games.
