About the Game

A survival-action game inspired by real-life events, Atomfall is set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England.

Explore the fictional quarantine zone, scavenge, craft, barter, fight and talk your way through a British countryside setting filled with bizarre characters, mysticism, cults, and rogue government agencies.

From Rebellion, the studio behind Sniper Elite and Zombie Army, Atomfall will challenge you to solve the dark mystery of what really happened.

Player Driven Mystery: Unravel a tapestry of interwoven narratives through exploration, conversation, investigation, and combat, where every choice you make has consequences.

Search, Scavenge, Survive: You’ll need to scavenge for supplies, craft weapons and items, and fight desperately to make it out alive!

Desperate Combat: With weapons and ammunition scarce, each frenetic engagement will see you blend marksmanship with vicious hand-to-hand combat. Manage your heart rate to hold a steady aim and ensure you have the energy you need to reach for your cricket bat and land the killer blow.

Green and Unpleasant Land: The picturesque British countryside, with rolling green hills, lush valleys, and rural villages belie the dangers that await you. Navigate cult-controlled ruins, natural caves, nuclear bunkers and more as you explore this dense, foreboding world.

Reimagining Windscale: A fictional reimagining of a real-world event, Atomfall draws from science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War influences to create a world that is eerily familiar yet completely alien.

Nothing in this game really comes together. It just feels like a lot of missed potential. - Stealth is bad, the level design and enemy placement doesn't work for it. - Melee is bad without the ability to block or dodge. - Gunplay does not feel great. - Exploration sucks because of your limited inventory, should be about 10 times the size. - The story is not engaging enough to work as an adventure game. - The skill system is to light for it to be a proper RPG. - There aren't enough clearly defined goals with multiple solutions for it to work as an immersive sim. All in all it feels like a game that doesn't know what it wants to be so it does a bit of everything half assed. As such I can't really recommend it to anyone. To bad I can't get a refund.

If you're a fan of games like Fallout or Metro, then this is the game for you. You're thrown right into the action without any information, allowing you to form your own opinion of the game. However, there are a few things that spoil the game, so there is still a lot of room for improvement. - There are only 4 hotkeys - You can't assign healing items to a hotkey - Melee combat is poor, and you can't block or dodge - There is no proper inventory system - The stealth system is bad But as Rebellion's first RPG, it's a good game.

One of the worst games you will spend your money on. I have come to regret my purchase I wish I could return this game but I was at 2 hrs and 20 minutes when I realized how bad the whole game is. DO NOT THINK for a second this is anything like fallout, think of an early 2010 game with terrible AI, outdated map, barely any inventory space, terrible leveling system, no fast travel, awful scanning system, no groundbreaking elements, or anything to make it stand out. I am hate playing this game. I have never gotten stuck on the environment more than this game, I have clipped through the floor multiple times, and gotten stuck by larger enemies and the environment. Graphics are mid at best, all in all wait until this is $20 tops. Graphics 6/10 Gameplay 3/10 Story 6/10 STAY CLEAR

2/10 This game is at the same time too difficult and too easy to enjoy. What I mean by this is that ammo scarcity, dialogue choices that can lock you out of gameplay, and inventory management are too hardcore to enjoy casually while the AI, combat, mob pathing and main questline are so absurdly broken or easy that the illusion of fantasy is removed. Having played few enough hours that I can refund this I will instead warn others not to buy. They made an honest attempt and failed miserably.

Very poor man's Fallout. Playing this game after such older games as Fallout 4, Skyrim, GTA 5 and The Witcher 3 (particularly remastered versions), feels like a big step backwards. For example, maps are small, you cannot interact with objects, you cannot walk through/over small obstacles (e.g., bushes) and you cannot swim. Graphics are ok, but all other aspects of the game appear outdated as of 2025. They didn't develop anything new or novel and didn't even replicate the best parts of those older games.

Atomfall is built on discovery with story lines interweaving. You're trusted to pick up the threads without a hundred map icons and waypoints. Multiple characters offer the opportunity to win the game. It's satisfying to work with each of them, as they offer a different perspective of the world, right until the end where they all funnel into a short and mediocre finish. The combat has a satisfying weight, even if it's unoriginal. Ending aside, the game is worth playing for the vibe and the exploration.

Honestly its a pretty solid experience overall. I wasn't super sure what to expect going into it, but was pleasantly surprised. The game hooks you with a pretty interesting mystery to keep you invested in the story, and the gameplay is solid enough to keep you engaged for the 15 or so hours it takes to complete. The combat is somewhat clunky, but in a way that seems intentional. Taking fights with large groups is difficult without firearms, so at the beginning of the game you have to play carefully and think about the fights you take. Near the mid to endgame this falls off, as bullets are plentiful enough to allow you to take larger fights and stand your ground. If I have one major criticism, it's the endings of the game. There are multiple choices to make, but unfortunately none have a lot of depth. You aren't really shown the consequences of your choices and some mysteries just simply aren't explained which is a bummer. I would have liked some more reactivity in the ending slides. Ov...

Have had a great time playing this. Really good story that slowly unfolds. Damn right creepy in places. Gave me 'Half-Life' vibs. Look out for the distinctly British Easter eggs

Atomfall blends role-playing elements with first-person strategy in a way that feels both engaging and rewarding. Its story-driven adventure is compelling and packed with emotional moments, keeping the player invested throughout. Combat requires a tactical approach, but during my journey, a few impulsive choices led me to hidden areas and surprising victories against tough enemies. This unpredictability added depth to the experience and kept the gameplay fresh. Exploration is one of Atomfall’s strongest aspects, constantly rewarding curiosity with rare materials and valuable equipment. It’s a game that encourages players to search every corner, making discovery itself one of the most satisfying parts of the adventure.

What do you want from any video game? Entertainment, distraction or just having fun? For me, the best games bring you into a world that's believable and that have enough character development and intrigue so that you want to keep playing - to find out more about what's going on and why. Atomfall does a great job. It's based on a real world event, the 1957 Windscale nuclear accident in Cumbria, or the British Lake District. It takes some time to figure out what's going on, as it has nothing to do with that directly - and then with a number of conflicting "truths" from more than one key player. Everything revolves around the one thing that has resulted in why things are the way they are, so it's more of an intriguing mystery than just a First Person Shooter. If there is a downside, it's probably that some of the quests take a bit of walking, only to discover the way is blocked and now you have to backtrack. But, I suppose with the setting they're using that does give it ...
