About This Game

'ALASKA' is an adventure game developed by Orion Moon, the one man behind the indie studio at 'Wreck Tangle Games'.

The game gives players a week in the life of an Alaskan man who lives in a small town high up in the mountains. The town consists of 5 families, living in their own way, providing for themselves and for their neighbors. They all fish together on the rivers, skate together on frozen lakes, share their hunting trophies and enjoy each others company...

But their day to day life is about to change, when a body is discovered, murdered on the town's airstrip...

Who do you trust now?!

----------------------------------------------------------------

STORY

Alaska boasts a solid story that will have you guessing who the murderer could be all the way to the final scenes of the game. With plenty of twists in the plot, Alaska is an exciting game to play.

The game can be divided into two. You start the game living out a simple life in Alaska. Our protagonist, Blake, is in the process of getting over his wife leaving him. After getting some advise from the local mail man, Blake decides to spend time with all his Neighbors in hopes this will help him out of the difficult times he is facing.. The next few days are filled with fishing and ice skating, among other fun activities Blake's Neighbors introduce to him to try and help him out... This comes to an abrupt end though in the second half of Alaska when a body is discovered, murdered on the town's airstrip.

Those Neighbors that you have become so close to... One of them could be hiding a dark secret, and could be after you next!

----------------------------------------------------------------

OBJECTIVES

As you live your life in 'The Final Frontier' you will be guided through tasks you must complete to progress through the game. Simple tasks can be - Deliver the Mail, start a fire or find certain items, more complex objectives include fishing, ice skating, chainsawing trees and hunting. Each objective is there to help you really feel part of this small Alaskan community.

----------------------------------------------------------------

POSTCARDS AND MAPS
To help guide you to your next tasks are postcards which point you to the next objective, as well as a map to help you find your way.

Hello, everyone who is thinking of buying this game. I was in your shoes just a week ago when I bought the game. Just kind of leaped in. Alaska is a stunning place that I would love to visit and this game does an okay job of recreating it. Ill be honest though the game has a few weird things about it. The graphics are not next gen or anything but sometimes the background and the lighting does catch your eye. Player models look like xbox 360 or something. So no real innovation or anything. The gameplay is pretty much none existent with the exception of some hard mini games. There is a fishing one where you have to press a button within a split second to catch a fish. I was not fast enough so I just spammed the button. There is also a skating one where you go around a track and avoid obstructions. I actually liked this mini game. The game is pretty much walking around to different locations on the map. The character interactions are where this game shine. Some of the dialogue and twists ...

Tyler Durden Simulator
Story
I thought the story, which was really the key element to this game, was pretty heavy handed and very obvious. I won't go into more detail beyond my header, but I didn't find the writing to be very compelling. Mediocre would be the best word I could use to describe it. The story isn't bad, but it also isn't good. It was however interesting enough to see it through to the end.
Gameplay
Alaska is a walking simulator at heart masking as lite psychological horror, although it is broken up with some side activities, which I thought were well placed and served to switch up what might otherwise become a monotonous, "run over here and check this out, run back, then head over there again" type game. It does everything adequately, except the ice skating part, which was overly sensitive and led to a lot of do overs. Again, gameplay is pretty mediocre overall.
Graphics
Even though the graphics engine being used features som...

A short but surprisingly good game. Sometimes a bit annoying, because you have to walk a lot from A to B and back. But the game has a really good story to tell...

Okay so this is a technical nightmare with hilarious facial animations; a horribly optimized game and pretty odd voice acting throughout. But for a fiver, this was an absolute blast. It was funny at the right moments (even if not for the reasons intended), had a pretty good plot all things considered, and I ended up getting really invested. Dialogue was good for the most part, only let down by some of the voice acting (the main character sounded like an Australian Videogamedunkey and one guy sounded like he was about to sell me something any minute). Some animations are just... off, but the visuals for the most part were gorgeous and I quickly fell in love with it. It's OST was perfect too, subtle yet striking. By far my biggest problem about this game was the mingames. There were three. All of which got increasingly worse as I played and just took away the atmosphere of the game. The game is a walking simulator at heart but don't let that put you off. Play it with friends if you c...

This game is a masteripiece of storytelling. The story is presented in a very artistic way. I highly recommend everyone check out this game as almost everyone is barefoot. Also the voice acting is very good and I'm not lying. You do so many fun activies in this game, that it almost feels like it has unlimited content. Did I mention most people are barefoot? ;) There is a snowmobile, but you don't get to ride it. It is fine, it looked lame anyway. I think the grandma in the game is dead or something, because she didn't move or speak. Maybe she is just shy? idk, saw feet don't care. Also I got lost trying to hunt a deer for about an hour. Overall, you'll never see the twist at the end coming. I would recommend this game, and am already planning my second playthrough. My screenshot key didn't work so I wasn't able to grab feet pics the first time around. Would recommend, worth every penny. Please buy it and say you bought it because of me. - the end

Okay, so it isn't the best game in the world, but don't expect it to be. It has it's technical flaws, and the fishing sequence is nothing short of a headache, but that being said, it's worth delving into. It's a short and simple game that progressively becomes more and more eerie, for lack of a better word. A small Alaskan community in the midst of strange goings-on. Without giving too much away, it's a fun story driven game with some clihe elements, but keeps the player wanting to get through it to the end. Also, for the small price tag, you can't go wrong.

Acting is a bit cheesy. Storyline so far is good. But after 2 hrs 1 Minigame[chainsaw] ruins a lot of fun

PAID: $2.69 on Summer Sale. HARDWARE: i5 3570, 16GB, GTX 1070, SSD. I'm having fun so far. The game is an on-rails adventure set in a town of 11 people in rural Alaska. The graphics are somewhat old-school, but the level design and music give a good sense of place. All the dialogue is fully voiced. It gets a little hammy at times, with people speaking in long monologues that you would be unlikely to hear in real life (something you find in many novels, not really a big deal), but the characters are all distinct and believable. I especially like the protagonist's voice, which I'm having a hard time placing, though I'm fairly sure it's somewhere with a French influence (New Orleans? Quebec?). A previous reviewer was unhappy with the mini-games. So far I've encountered two, fishing and cutting a tree. They're really just minor "puzzles" that occur once at certain points in the story, not something you have to do repeatedly, and though they do feel like a slightly incongruous match to t...
