A little rough around the edges but still worth a dollar. This is an action adventure hack n slash sort of in the vein of gauntlet. This game excels with it's art style and small details. There are a few issues here and there but nothing making the game unplayable.
Pros
+Beautiful pixel art setting up the world very nicely +18 levels in sets of of 3 that are set up with different enemies and design +Pretty fluent controls (played with controller) +Fitting soundtrack +Small amount of replayability to find hidden weapons and health upgrades +Median tier difficulty with checkpoints to where most can pick up
Cons
-Clipping can be touchy sometimes -Hitboxes can be annoying if an enemy gets right on top of you. [strike]-It seemed that my controller was D-pad supported but was not analog stick supported.[/strike] (~Issue Patched~) I hit a few other bugs which I'll post about in discussion mostly to do with clipping and puzzles. In the end this isn't the shiniest of one ...

When I buy a game for $1 I expect a lack of quality or some kind of problems. You are probably wondering if there is something wrong with the game. It takes about 2-3 hours to beat the story and I have not encountered any significant issues. In fact, It is a lot better than I expected. This just seems like a solid Zelda style game for $1. Old school action-adventure where you hacking through dungeons and solving puzzles. The game has responsive gameplay, nice animation, good soundtrack (licensed), and even decent settings. I expected a lack of variety in enemies and environments (nope, not the case). Ukhar has no complex RPG elements but there are some upgrades and different weapons. I actually prefer games where I don't rely too much on numbers. The difficulty is not too easy and not too hard. If you die you can restart from the checkpoint (so it is not a roguelike). You can increase maximum life, find higher quality weapons and use some sub-weapons. The combat mostly consists of 3...
Cool developement of BoI concept.. except it's unplayable. The most dangerous threat in those dungeons are.. walls themselves! No enemies can compare, for any stone sticking out of the floor can end your run as you touch it - you just stick in place & can't move no more........
I recently returned to this game and don't know why I stopped in the first place! :)
Saw this in my recommendations, figured a pick up and play type hack and slash for a buck would be worth a few plays. Finished first playthrough in 2 hours or so, and I'll end up going back for another play at some point soon. For the price, definitely worth it, but it does have some issues. Pros: -Easy to pick up and play from a fresh start. -Artstyle is great and animations are pretty well done. -Feels like it's just about the right length; Doesn't stretch itself out, or at least it doesn't feel like it does. -Level designs were great and fitting with how they were setup. -Just felt fun to play. Cons: -Felt too easy. I never really felt like I was in danger at all, and I think I only lost one (maybe two?) health potion. -Boss fights were a bit basic and way too easy to just smash and pass. -Not a lot of variety in sub-weapons and upgrading the level resets your ammo. -Collision/hitboxes. I got stuck to doorways, pots, walls (dunno if that's an analog movement issue or if it's just g...
Best dollar I have ever spent maybe.. 3 hours/full achievement - Feels like older Zelda dungeons
I own hundreds of games at this price point and the vast majority of them are utter garbage....this is a rare exception. If you're looking for a simple hack and slash dungeon crawler to kill a few hours then you can't go wrong with Ukhar. Other than having to restart a couple of areas after my character got stuck on random items in the environment the game ran flawlessly. The dev obviously but effort into making this game and these are the type of devs we should be supporting.
Solid game for a buck. It won't blow you away with amazing graphics, deep story, and addictive combat. But there is a good game here and you can beat it and get every achievement along the way in under a few short hours.
A tribute to AMiGA gaming and made with lots of love. Has similar graphics to the old GODS from Bitmap Brothers. Deja vu: The feel I had when I first got my AMiGA 500 when I saw the opening sequence in Psygnosis BARBARIAN was fantastic. The gamemechanics in that game where not that great and forced players to use a mouse when it actually was better with a joystick, but at the time a mouse for a computer was a new and hipp thing ( It sounds odd today I know, and it´s even more weird that we havent developed further in terms of using a computer than with a mouse when this was actually introduced in the 80´s haha. Anyhow. The feel of tactical combat and challenge in that game, the same feel you get here although its easier. The Last ninja If you know about this game then you know the scary feel when you got into the catacombs and meet skeletons. Allmost the same feeling that you got back in time when you where sitting in your room and loading up The last ninja for the first time. T...
taking into account that this game costs only a buck, there's more quality here than in several 10 - even 20 bucks games I played. Don't expect a world-shattering experience, but do experience 2-3 hours of a good, retro-inspired top-down rpg. For me, that alone makes it worth the money. 6/10
