Men of War is a stunning Real-Time Strategy game that takes place during the height of World War II. Intense battles span Europe and North Africa as gamers play as Soviet, Allied or German forces across 19 massive single-player missions. Both online multiplayer and single-player conflicts feature authentic vehicles and weapons of the era and brutal combat that will take players into the heart of the fight.
Features

The Direct Control feature allows gamers to command any single unit on the field at any time. Players have complete control over the unit's actions and can change, upgrade and repair equipment and vehicles.
Three evolving storylines in the Soviet, Allied and German armies, comprising 19 missions in total.
Realistic models of armament and military equipment recreated in accordance with design drawings and historical documents.
Highly detailed WWII environments and characters faithfully recreated with a cutting-edge graphics engine.
The single player campaign features a fully customizable user interface.
Online play features a unique faction (the Japanese) and numerous gameplay modes including Capture the Flag and High-Value Cargo.

Men of War is affected by the GameSpy shutdown on the 31st of May. You can continue to play the game through LAN, DirectIP and GameRanger.

Clunky, worse ai than COH which is saying a lot, soldiers will stand there in the middle of nowhere getting killed.Everything will need micromanaging down to checking if a cover got destroyed and your men are now standing there doing nothing, AT wont fire or move if they dont get sight but nothing will tell you that besides them not shooting.Controls are awful from having to backspace then changong speed than backspace again, to the unchangable pause button forcing you to fn+B everytime if youre on laptop.Missions are a slogfest boring and slow, but wont be too easy thank to the dumb ai and unclear objectives!Not a huge fan of COh either but that was billion times better.Got it for under 1 buck,still feels too much.

Ok, I liked the soviet campaign start a lot. 2nd mission "Evacuation" was challenging and fun. The 3rd "POW" mission to crawl around all alone in enemy territory for hundreds of meters just to get shot before the mission actually starts is just not my cup of tea. I'm sorry. Maybe some people like "crawling all alone in enemy territory" style missions. For me its just not RTS.

This is one of the classic games from men of war (certainly better than men of war 2) great and fun campaigns, editor mode, albeit, since it's old clunky gameplay and can be overwhelming in certain missions, fun with friends, or modded with the dynamic campaign mod which got included in Gates of Hell later on. Buy it whenever possible, since it's pretty cheap and you can find out if you like this series of games and core gameplay loop, or just for the campaign scenarios if you've already played assault squad 2, or gates of hell.
