About This Game

In Creatura, design and take care of enclosed ecosystems full of animals and plants grown from scratch, using scientifically accurate natural/artificial selection and genetic engineering. Make an epic journey over epochs of evolution, from single cell organisms sharing water with algae, to complex animals living in lush gardens. Manage and recreate fully customizable vivariums, while carefully balancing biomes characteristics to sustain perfect ecosystems. Fulfil unique almanac with species yet to be discovered, and edit your own fauna & flora with authentic DNA editor, learning how modern tools and techniques like CRISPR and GMO work in detail.

Creatura has open-ended "sandbox-like" gameplay mode, with beautiful bonsai experience of any vivarium you can think of, and challenging educational scenarios, including extensive tutorial. Sell plant cuttings to buy decorations and consumables, research fauna & flora to unlock advanced DNA editing methods, and with enough patience and luck, grow rare and unique specimens for trading. Or just watch the grass growing, with up-to-date biology research based on Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel legacy, it's all science after all.

  • Use artificial selection to grow any possible plant out of billions of combinations, or utilize natural selection to breed unique animals, dependent on adapting to their environments.
  • Learn how to edit DNA, understand concepts like genomes, codons & gene sequencing, and apply your own genetic engineering using the GCAT system and authentic DNA editor.
  • Control the time to watch hundreds of plants and animals evolve in just seconds by utilizing up to 1000x time-lapse, in a highly optimized and smooth gaming experience.
  • Manage a fully simulated virtual aquarium/terrarium. Grow plants to generate oxygen, use consumables and decorations to control pH, maintain humidity with temperature and water.
  • Customize the tank stand, rims and lid, colors, shape the ground, water level, and decorate it with a wide range of unlockable rare parts and decorations.
  • Grow and breed specimens until mutating the rare and unique variations to make your vivarium even more special, or to sell/trade them for great profit.
  • Discover millions of possible plants and animals, name them, and be the first to put them in global almanac, as a part of your evolutionary research.
  • Create the most visually stunning virtual bonsai aquariums/terrariums, in a relaxing and educational gaming environment without any fail conditions.
  • Use or make your own texture packs (with Steam Workshop support) for even more unique experience.

To the dear game developer: Hello, I really like the content of this game, it's a very good science game of genetic engineering. However, during my actual playthrough, I encountered text dyslexia - I think the in-game text needs to be better translated to facilitate the gaming experience. I'm not posting this comment to point the finger at you guys, but I'm wondering if there are any Chinese translators within the production team that are working on this right now? If not, I think I'd like to help you translate the original text into Chinese to make the game a better experience for as many people as possible (I don't need to be paid for this as I'm just a biology enthusiast). I'd like to get your contact information so I can communicate with you more efficiently about the Chinese translation. I really hope the reviews for this game get better in the future, thanks for making such a fun game. Also, I apologize for rating this game poorly, because from what I've seen, the developers seem...

I tried out this game on a whim. I usually play city builder, adventure, and puzzle games, with lots of indie horror sprinkled in... That said I just spent 3 hours playing this game without realizing the time was going by. At first I ignored the tutorial but that was a mistake lol once I got the premise of what I am supposed to do I cannot believe how much fun I am having. Time flew by and now I am upset I have to log and go to bed, but it's 4:30AM and I have to get some sleep! I can't wait to get back into it though! I've been a mad scientist! I grew some plants and cross bred them and had a couple of small critters evolving as well. You can change the DNA and create new species and watch them evolve. Suddenly I was level 12 and started building up my bank selling different plant-life that I had grown before I even realized I could change THAT DNA as well! There's a lot to this and I think I could play all night. Totally going to start from scratch tomorrow though as I missed out on...

I think the germ of a good idea is here (pun not intended, but accepted) but the tutorial and interface are just... Painfully unintuitive. I don't think there is anything "wrong" with this game per say or anything fundamentally broken, but it's still VERY rough around the edges and needs some further refining to make it at all compelling, because you can't comfortably intuit the layout, controls or underlying mechanics of the game on your own, and to say the tutorial dialogue is...Obtuse would be an understatement. It's just plain confusing. If this really seems like your cup of tea, I think it may be worth a try in the off chance you find it more navigable than I, as there is certainly an underlying logic at play in all of this, but I can't escape the fact that understanding it is just...Awkward, really, really painfully awkward. If the devs are at all listening in, my advice is thus: Try to say more with less. Simplify your UI and go for the most basic, universal interpretation...

I feel that this game is truly a love-it-or-hate-it situation. If you think this sounds awesome, if it seems like something you've been looking to experience, you'll have a great time with Creatura! If it doesn't appeal to you on its face, however, you will probably find it tedious, uninteresting, and vague. This is a game where the demo is exceptionally valuable in determining whether the game is for you, so definitely give it a go prior to purchasing -- and definitely don't skip that tutorial! Overall, for those who are drawn to the premise, I absolutely recommend this. I can't think of another game tackles gene inheritance and simulated evolution over time nearly so well. It's a hidden gem!

amazing game! very innovative, stunning and beautiful! I have greatly enjoyed messing with the different genetics, and being able to cultivate your own plants and animals, synthesizing them and looking at the various different markers in order to see what they do! tweaking your plants and animals and then selectivly breeding them is alot of fun, though i do wish there was a little more control over the animal portion itself ie the ability to sell them, killing or manage the populations a bit better would be nice too (i have a few hundred little critters cause i have an obscene number of plants and most of them are pesticide resistant at this point -_-) the different stuff you get for leveling up truly offers alot of nice bonuses to the game, and the fact that you can control everything in your environment from the color to the temperature, ph and more is just a blast! The tutorial is entertaining with the dialog between the two characters, and fairly informative as well. AND its cheap ...

I'm not too familiar with idle simulator games like this, but I have to say, this is one I've gotten pretty invested in. While I'm not sure if this could necessarily be considered an 'edutainment game' or not, I can certainly imagine this being in a middle/high school computer room, with how it comfortably engages with making a game based on real world concepts in biology and scientific research. The gameplay loop is engaging, there's plenty of customization, and once you get the ability to safely edit genes as long as you know what you're doing, it's engaging enough to feel like you're actively participating in the vivarium's evolution despite it still being up to your passive decisions and the natural succession taking its course overtime. The Scenarios(sort of a story mode with preset missions and guidelines) are great and I like how you can store items you see in them for your own Freeplay vivariums or choose to keep playing after the objectives are done. Only major issue I h...
