I expected to see beat`em up/platform game, instead I got fighting/platform game. pros: - complex battle system; - secrets; - visuals; - multiple endings/characters. cons: - no learning progression in the game - you need to punch bag in the dojo to learn/train yourself to play the game as everything unlocked from the start; - game menu is too complex. It was like that: I selected arcade mode as I thought there would be less story (don't want to train in dojo to gain strength), soon I found that is too difficult and various spikes one-shot you, it use max difficulty setting. Then I selected story mode - the game started in max difficulty for me and I also struggled a lot, but then I tried to select chapter 1 I found difficulty selection (I don't think I see that screen before). After that I was able to beat the game. I see devs put their soul in the game and it can be a great one. Though progression system is not here, so the game throws everything at you. Very cool concept and content, would love to love it ... but the controls and movement are super janky and loose. A game like this needs to be super tights with controls. I love (and completed) The Messanger, Infernax and a lot of other retro inspired games that are as good if not better than what the inspiration was ... but sadly this is not one of them for me. I wish it was.

I love this game it's a timeless classic for me. it's a fighting game/beat em up mash up. doing inputs like quarter circle forward attack or back them forward attack for special attacks. There's also secret moves not shown in the move list that are pretty dope to pull off too. Once you get used to the combat you can do some badass combos especially on bosses unlocking hidden item/endings and whatnot. The Dojo or headquarter of sorts has various items you can buy to increase strength/speed/etc. of the characters you want to use as well as a pretty neat kata minigame which also can make your characters stronger. It's pretty satisfying, the pacing is fast at times, I'd recommend, 9/10 for me. decent replayability with 9 different endings along with different game modes. The co-op camera only focusing on player 1 is the only gripe I have with the game similar to Sonic where you don't share the screen. Player 2 just gets dragged/teleported if you continue on. Besides that I wish it'd get m...
