About This Game

Flyout is an aircraft building game with an emphasis on design freedom and realistic physics, sound and effects. Use the in-game modeling tools to create an aircraft of any shape, add and configure engines for your needs, set up control surfaces and take your design on a test flight around an earth-sized procedurally generated planet.

Editor Tools

-freeform fuselage editor
-wing editor
-material and texture settings
-paint tools and import of custom decals
-configurable turbines, ramjets, piston engines and electric motors
-configurable propellers and rotors that can be connected to any engine(s) via gearbox
-configurable landing gear
-configurable control surface and joint inputs
-fly-by-wire settings
-basic cockpit interior parts
-import reference images to create replicas
-modding support that currently allows import of .obj models and textures

Simulation

-wing shape, span and sweep have a large effect on flight behavior
-fuselage drag is calculated from shape
-engine simulation
-aircraft sounds change with design
-realistic atmosphere model
-wind, turbulence, vertical draft
-ground effect

BEFORE YOU BUY:

This game is not easy. There are no in-game tutorials and tool tips are limited due to Early Access status.
Fuselage editing is similar to modeling in any 3D software, although much simplified.
There will be bugs due to the highly unrestricted editor and Early Access status of the game.
Basic understanding of aircraft physics and flight controls is required or at least recommended.

The dev din't give updates for over 6 months and could not take 2 minutes to tell the people WHO PAID for the game that he was going to stop working on the game " for personal reasons". Now people claim he's back but he's not made a official statement to say he's back. Do you think that's a good A business model? i cannot recommend this game being that it's most likely going to be 1 of those games who stay stuck in development for ever. Gotta love when devs take the people who pay for a product with their hard earned money for granted. The dev dosen't even have enough respect for the people who support him and pay for the product to atleast officially keep us informed? Seems like that's to much to ask for these days? At the moment of this review 8/13/2025, the last patch he released was in June 2024.... over a year ago...... Did he rob us? i don't know you tell me.

Game is abandoned, and unfortunately the discord is very hostile to anyone who is unhappy about that fact

While I do deeply love this game, it hasn't received even a notice from the developer in over a year. It's becoming quite evident the game is abandoned and will not receive further updates. This would be fine if the game was actually in a finished state, but it's not. It is good, and the community is active, but don't expect support for any bugs or new features.

Flyout is an ambitious and highly detailed aircraft-building sandbox game that places players at the intersection of engineering precision and open-ended creativity. Developed by Stonext Games and available in Early Access on Steam, it offers a unique experience that focuses heavily on realism, aerodynamic simulation, and complete freedom in design. Unlike arcade-style flying games or heavily guided simulators, Flyout grants players an expansive set of tools to conceptualize, construct, and fly their own aircraft from the ground up. This is not a plug-and-play kind of flight experience—it’s one that encourages experimentation, iteration, and learning through trial and error. At the heart of Flyout is its incredibly powerful editor. Players are not just slapping prefabricated pieces together; they are shaping fuselage structures, calibrating wing properties, selecting powerplants like turbines, electric motors, or piston engines, and integrating everything from landing gear to cont...

This game offers the best in terms of high-fidelity aircraft builds. However, do not expect a fully fleshed-out editor. While you can create almost any aircraft you can imagine, there is still room for improvement in many areas of the game, including the editor. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this game if you are willing to spend the time necessary to find out how everything works. DISCLAIMER: The game has not received an update in over a year (at the time of writing this review). It was recently announced on Discord that the developer will be back soon, but there is nothing to confirm this.

It's a buggy mess, there's no undo button, and the dev has practically abandoned the game. Along with this the game is not very user or beginner friendly. It has potential, but right now its just not very good.

Flyout! showed promise at release, but unfortunately, there is no definitive proof that the developer is still actively working on it. The last patch was in June 2024, over a year ago, and since then there has been no official communication or clear statement about the project’s future. Some community members claim the developer has returned, but without concrete updates or transparency, there is no reason to assume meaningful progress is being made. At the very least, paying supporters deserve clarity, yet that has not been provided. From a customer’s standpoint, it feels like 20 euros simply gone — money paid in good faith for a product that now appears abandoned. Without communication, that purchase begins to look less like support for a project and more like money taken without accountability. Because of this, I cannot recommend the game. Until there is clear evidence of active development and a consistent line of communication from the developer, it is safest to treat this p...

The game has potential, but needs a lot of work. The main problem I have with it is accessibility. Advanced editor or no, the UI and editor is incredibly clunky and there is no tutorial or guide. Now you may head to the discord and read their horribly outdated guides, but also find an incredibly toxic community. Honestly that is my biggest problem. There is very little friendly support and a lot of hyper sensitive players who continue to be incredibly mean and hostile towards anyone who isn't a regular. Its the typical echo chamber around people who've invested huge amounts of time in this game to be able to consider any sort of criticism reasonably. Plus, you know how military nerd types can be. Every flavor or Wehraboo, Russophile, and whatever gross hyper fixation member you can think of is there as well. Finally, as of this review, there has been no official announcement by the dev of any update or continued development. Reviews claim there was some sort of announcement in th...
