About the Game

In the far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changed the world as we knew it. As humanity entered this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above. Since then, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.

Featuring a dual story, begin your adventure with either Yuito Sumeragi, an energetic recruit from a prestigious political family or Kasane Randall, the mysterious scout whose power and skill has gained great notoriety among the OSF. As their different experiences interweave with each other, it is only then that you will reveal the full story and unlock all the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.

Kinetic Psychic Combat – Using psycho-kinetic abilities, the world around you becomes your greatest weapon. Lift, break and throw pieces of your environment to build your attack combos and lay waste to your enemies.

Exterminate the Others – Deranged mutants that descended from the sky, highly resistant to conventional attack methods and defenses. Tormented by the constant pain of their mutation, they seek brains of living organisms to calm their madness.

Discover a Brain Punk future – Explore and protect a futuristic Japanese landscape that combines inspirations from classic anime and western science fiction.

A Dual Story Experience – Dive into a complex story of bonds, courage and heroism, crafted by minds behind the iconic Tales of Vesperia.

A really great surprise! Just don't play on Very Hard difficulty, the combat is fun, but the biggest strengths lies in its interesting, cheerful and charismatic characters and the OST!

This game is fun for the first 5-7 hours but then you realize it is incredibly repetitive and ultimately, boring. The cities are lifeless, the dungeons are walking simulators and are not interesting at all. They are just hallways that serve to get you to the next fight with an enemy you have already seen 5 times before. If you want to play an RPG with social elements, just get persona instead. If you want an action RPG version, get persona strikers.

Enjoyed the story more than the gameplay for this title. The bond episodes and the characters I felt were fairly well connected. The gameplay is good; however, I do find it repetitive in nature and not THAT interesting after you get around phase 6+.

A pretty solid experiment. I didn’t bother replaying with the second character, but I got my share of enjoyment from the first run. Just a good game, nothing more.

I've only played Yuito route but it was very fun. Story was interesting characters were likeable and combat was great. only complaint is the dialogue felt over explained and unatrual but that is apearntly common for JRPS (other than ff7 ive only played this one) but over a great game.

Played it on PS Plus and liked it a lot so I bought it on PC. Great action RPG from the same people who did Code Vein and God Eater, which are also awesome.

Scarlet Nexus is an action-adventure JRPG with focus on team utilization. Set in a world of futuristic technology, you can take control of either Yuito or Kasane to unravel deep secrets within governments, fight against "Others", and form strong bonds with your teammates. The gameplay allows you to combine psychic powers from your comrades and strategize fighting specific enemies. The more time you spend with your team, the stronger you can become. Story starts off at a steady pace, making it an interesting development but midway it starts to lose it's own identity. To fully understand the story, you will need to go through both characters to view their perspectives. Gameplay can feel repetitive and side quests don't feel rewarding as you can obtain some of these rewards through the in-game shop. Overall, it was a decent experience, nothing especially satisfying but if you're looking for a good JRPG, this is a good one.

Overall an enjoyable game, story is fine and characters are written well enough. What carried this game the most is game play and music. Though tbf the side quest are not worth the time
