I don't see how this game is as popular as it is. The art and setting are good, but that's really it. The rest is pretty mediocre.

Very fun, very christian, very violence. "Just fucking parry, oh Penitent one."

good game. good art and fighting. what sucks about this game: when you die, death screen lingers for too long. i want to get back in the game, not reflect on life and death. the boss after the 3 masks. the respawn point is so far away, everytime i die, i have to wait until the elavator goes down to go up. like idc for all this time wasting kinda hard to figure out what to do. had to explore areas i bet multiple times as i did not know on the map where to go. 7/10

Severely overrated, a lot of the negative reviews are true. The game is clunky and has Dark Souls 2 levels of bs and annoyance. The only real redeeming qualities are the overall art direction and the story (if you bother to figure it out). I bought it from the positive reception I heard but was left disappointed and annoyed after finishing the game. The final boss was everything wrong about the game but magnified x4. Despite everything the game is still like a 7/10, but as far as metroidmanias go, there are others that are vastly superior to this.

When you start this path, you're not just entering a game—you're stepping into a piece of dark literature. A world drenched in pain and suffering, filled with followers who blindly bow to a false divinity. P.S. There is no grace in blind obedience—only guilt, silence, and decay.

Game has really great pixel art. Combat is fun albeit with little variety and I did enjoy my time with most of the boss fights. However as a metroidvania it is pretty disappointing. Game has little to no meaningful upgrades especially for movement. In fact you can reach the end without a single one (bar some keys needed to open the final area). The roadblocks that do exist on the map only lead to small detours, and the relics needed to reach them are all found in really obscure locations or locked behind long fetch quests that dont even explain what items or where you need to bring them without looking it up. To make matters worse said quest NPCs aren't even marked on the map, and the marks that do exist don't have a legend to explain what they are. The game design is obnoxious at times. There's tons of insta-death pits and spikes across the map, sometimes accompanied by enemies that will knockback you right into them. There's one room with a pitfall one step from the adjacent room ...

This game's combat is unfair, and it feels more like punishment than a fun challenge. There's no creative learning curve, just a tedious grind. The difficulty isn't about skills but a relentless series of unfair design choices that punish you and waste your time. In the end, the punishment outweighs the value of the game's progression and the story itself. At least for me.

bad mechanics and control but the story and art is good, go make a book or film instead, because the gameplay is not as good.

Overrated af imo. 1. The combat is extremely frustrating (idk if it's by design or not) 2. The deaths feels cheap. 3. The enemy placement is bs. This game tries too hard to be a souls like, but in the process it forgets that it is a Metroidvania.
