Fun little game. I think the game would have been 10x better if once you beat it you can pick the levels and do no death run for the levels. The whole no death, no continue achievements are quite insane tbh. Also heals should replenish at bonfires. Then make the difficulties actually make sense. Relaxed doesnt make sense, its just as hard as the others. Hardcore is only 3 lives as opposed to 5 which means less deaths per level but can just continue endlessly. And veteran is average of both. The charm is in the main character and the simplicity of things with the great artwork. I give it a 7/10. Mostly held up by the gameplay itself but a lack of depth to the game and replability. Check it out if you are a fan of metroidvanias but expect to spend about 10 hours or so thats it. Also the music is great!

An underrated game with excellent map design and pixel art. I'm eagerly anticipating the developer's next release.
G
I bought Primal Light in a sale a few years ago. The first level was a bit frustrating and I had problems to get the timings right. So it landed on my pile of shame. Recently I gave it a second chance (cleaning up the pile...) and after getting past the first boss, I got used to the game mechanics and actually enjoyed it very much. The nice pixel graphics look like a premium Neo Geo game from back in the days (Magican Lord maybe?) and after some practice the controls feel tight and precise. Levels and enemies are quite diverse and colorful. If you are into 16-bit arcade platformers, this is the right game for you.
