Starts strong. Devolves into color matching game with making objects hard to find in the scenery replacing actual puzzles. Interface is awkward on desktop, objects don't move or rotate properly, hints are utterly useless. Final level is obviously slapped together as quickly as they could with basic children's puzzles. Example hint: "There's something in this box you need."

It was fun enough until they insisted on making me solve a rubiks cube...
Riddlord is a puzzle game inspired from The Room series with puzzles of various difficulty ranking from easy to hard (there were 2 puzzles I had to draw on paper to solve). It consists of 3 chapters and some kind of epilogue with an open-ending. I enjoyed the 3 chapters very much. And chapter 3 definitely has the most challenging puzzles in the game. Kudos to the players that can finish it in less that 20 minutes... But then the epilogue was kind of disappointing. It was very contrasting with the rest of the game. Puzzles were too easy and I met some difficulties for moving around, so I did not end the game on a very good note... Still I am curious to see what the developers have planned for the next opus. Now about the story, I found it was very superficial. It definitely is not the strong point of the game, so don't expect too much on that side. Also, I ended the game with two unanswered questions: - there were a coded text I was not able to decipher (I tried for a bit, but th...
if you like the room series, pick this up, it's very similar, but longer and a lot more difficult, and unlike the room games, it's priced fairly in euros and isn't insanely overpriced like certain clones ported lazily from mobile. it was a bit buggy on release, nothing that going back to the main menu couldn't fix, but now you can take screenshots without it messing up the inventory. saving's supposed to happen after every completed action, and by design not during a puzzle, but it doesn't always work, so coming back from a break might mean re-doing a few things, picking up an item again, for instance. it shouldn't be anything major, but at one point I had to re-do the game's worst puzzle in chapter 3 (followed closely by the cube in chapter 1). controls are a bit wonky, which made things even worse there. hopefully the planned sequel gets made and released on pc with fewer problems and a chapter select option for convenience. in the meantime, if you need help finding the secr...
This is a "puzzle box/room" game in the same style as The Room series of games. It is not as polished as The Room, there are a few (thankfully skippable after a while) puzzles, and the story is complete garbage, but for a fiver it's worth the money. (Though you really should play The Room series first, if you haven't already.)
I know design puzzles is hard, but that don't mean putting two rubik's cube thing there is acceptable. Please replace them next time with just a Sudoku, cross word, a calculus problem or something with somewhat equal difficulties to general public. First level is fine, second a bit harder, third is challenging. Some puzzles require sort of knowledge. So far so good. But the final senario is just stupid. Simply remove the final level would turn many negative reviews into positive, based on others comments. Other things are all good.
Purchased this thinking it would be like The Room. They seemed to be trying for the same concept but the controls, details and puzzles are lacking.
This game is clearly inspired by The Room series and keeping that in mind, it fails to deliver in both quality and concept. There's another review on here that states the game has a strong start and it does right up until a 2x2 Rubix Cube puzzle and that's when the problems with the game start to show up. Pros *Writing is serviceable to the plot, it's not amazing but it gets the job done. *Atmosphere, feels detective and mystery themed *Music was pretty good *Graphics and details are good Cons *Controls, the number one reason a particular puzzle in chapter 3, made me write this review and put this game down because they are just so, so bad. It feels there is almost no consideration considered for how this affects desktop users when it was ported from iOS. *Hints are not good, work needs to be done on these. It often told me what I already knew but not direct me in a way that guides me. ---- A lot of the time I just found myself engaging in trial and error when I just did not k...
Excellent, good difficulty - challenging enough to keep it interesting, but not frustrating. Really great atmosphere.
