Reaper is the long awaited sequel to Echo Tokyo: Phoenix, a narrative cyberpunk-like visual novel by Dharker Studios. It is a sexy and at times pretty dark mystery/investigation story where Keiji reunites with Shizume, the protagonist from Phoenix in the same setting. I liked the story, with its various dead ends and one actual resolution, but it has to played as part of the series. Within that context, it is a big step forward from Phoenix, which disappointed me when it released since the story was almost kinetic in nature with little choice. Reaper also has only one clear good path, but at least it offers enough content on the 'dead' branches to keep me interested, and has the sexual content that should also have been in Phoenix. Was it worth the years long wait? In the end, I have to say 'yes'. I think that this is intended to close the story, and it does lead to a pretty satisfying conclusion. User Reviews
The story is about as engaging as you would think (super basic and... fine, if other "aspects" carried their weight), but the H-part is super vanilla and repetitive. Also the game is just short at like 2 hours to get all the way through without rushing and getting most of the endings... then finding I didn't care about the ones I missed.
My first time trying a pathway game based on my choices. It different from what i'm used to but it was enjoyable. Personally wont be rushing to buy a similar game but it did give me a good insight into the genre. I did however like the pacing of achievement unlocking and didn't find it unnecessarily difficult to complete 100%.
