Firmament

Quite possibly my favorite game. It has all I want in a game: a semi open world feel, exploration, and logical puzzle solving, oh, and the story telling happens while you walk, so you don't have to sit around and wait for half an hour for a story to end before you can continue the game. There had been a glitch in the game that kept me from proceeding, but a patch fixed that.

I enjoyed the story as it unfolded and solving the puzzles, but must admit a few were very hard. I needed You Tuber Dilandau3000's game play videos to help me from getting frustrated. Getting to the end was satisfying. I am a fan of CYAN and I think other fans would enjoy this game. It is very different from the Myst games and Obduction. I always wonder what achievements I missed. I have not read other gamer comments and will do that now to see how other gamers felt.

I do recommend it, but I was frustrated by the number of bugs and glitches. Several times I kind of gave up on a puzzle and looked at a walkthrough only to find that the solution is what I had already tried and dismissed because it didn't work - it had either bugged out or just demanded too much precision.

janky pile of crap as of august 2025. took five tries to get the game started without overheating the computer for no reason. the settings never changed, its still at maximum and running cold now. this was when the real trouble began. first I couldn't use ladders. I'm getting the icon I'm clicking the button. nothing. I exit and reload. bingo ladders work. but now the HUD overlay keeps blurring and darkening. crane breaks, have to start that puzzle again. six hours of fighting through that and I get stuck in the damn bunker stairwell geometry on a ledge and cant jump down as there is no jump. and now my savegame is fried. I'm not doing that over again this year. this game actively fights you every step of the way even when you do everything right. I was able to forgive obduction's mean spirited final puzzle. this... I can't even get anywhere without the game breaking.
