I have put in over an hour trying to master the controls, but they are impossible. It feels like this was developed as a sit down game and not room scale. You instinctively turn to line up with the ball and not only does it not register this, but you are now not facing the ‘forward’ arrow, so all goes to pot. I can’t bring myself to join an online game as I am struggling to dribble the ball from the centre circle to the goal and shoot with no other players on the pitch. I feel it would be too embarrassing. This was such a huge disappointment as I was so looking forward to a game like this. Needless to say I have requested a refund.

Horrific controls. If my head and body have turned completely around, it should just follow. Just awful. PLEASE DEVELOPERS study how Stand Out Battle Royale handles movement. Until you fix this, I am refunding. Will buy again.

Virtual Reality Football Club is a game I came to with low expectations. Football? Yes. Football in VR? Absolutely yes. But with decent mechanics and proper immersion? That's exactly where I thought I'd be let down. Well, this is where the beta version comes in. Beta allows you to physically turn rather than with buttons and this changes everything. So you can run up and down the pitch swinging your arms to propel you; slowly running out of breath in real life and getting a great workout. The direction of the controllers mirror your feet. But while at the begining you keep missing the ball or overstepping it, slowly the coordination kicks in and you accomplish deft little flicks and quick turns. Running and kicking the ball ahead of you has such an incredibly fulfilling feel to it that I want to keep playing long after I've run out of energy. Shooting is still a bit hit or miss with me. But there is a strong sense that the method is there; its just a matter of figuring it out. The ...

The first vr game I swore at. Again and again and again. My team plays shitty defense and I hate them for it. Every goddamned last one of em. Game is fun, the tourney is cool, and it's on sale.

This game has huge potential, so far the developers have implemented a very creative locomotion solution for a sport no one imagined could work well for VR. As expected there are bugs for an early release product but the team have released consecutive updates that have drastically improved the experience in my opinion. I look forward to the final version of this game. Pros -Very fun and engaging -Great workout -Creative locomotion for moving through the field, shooting, passing etc. (Room scale is amazing) Cons -Needs more active users to setup online matches -Needs Bots to make up for lack of users

Played my first online match last night and while turning off all comfort settings might be inadvisable (a little motion sick) it was SOOOO MUCH FUN! Great implementation of VR and skill based to boot! Also it is crossplay with PSVR (my opponent was on playstation). Should become one of the staples of my library once I get in a little more practice ;)

This is the only VR game going where you play full matches as a single player and even though I don’t use foot controls it is very immersive. Some older reviews mention the controls being quite bad. This was the case when the game first came out (they were god awful initially) but now if you remove the comfort settings you can turn freely and control the ball freely. Controlling the ball and dribbling well can be very difficult at the start, and for the first couple of hours the game will be quite difficult. After the initial learning curve, dribbling feels very fluid and shooting is very consistent. I don’t like how weak passes are so I shoot gently to pass instead. Overall, I wish the game had more players but aside from that it’s the best (and only!) fully fledged VR football game.

really interesting game, i'm a big fan of soccer myself and wasn't sure about this game due to the mixed reviews, though in my opinion the game at the very least no longer plays like the previous reviews made the game sound. I don't know alot about this games history, but it seems to have been revamped heavily though apparently alot of players have issues with motion sickness. As someone who doesn't have an issue with motion sickness in vr ever this isn't an issue for me at all. The game plays quite well in my opinion, and has a feeling of playing soccer with your hands. the locomotion for me seems to work quite well. if there was something I could fault the game on, and something I think the game needs to improve it'd be the lack of option to have locomotion that isn't following a set direction, or following head movement, there needs to be a third type where you can move in the direction that your controllers are running. if there was controller directed movement in the same way a...

I couldn't get past the tutorial without getting nauseous. Tried both methods of control. Artificial rotation is a BIG no-no, even with the comfort features. Ignoring that, locomotion doesn't allow strafing in any direction or looking around. There's strafing and backpedalling pressing the grips, but it's super awkward. If you have a 180 degree setup, don't get sick with smooth rotation, and like football, you may enjoy this.

I'm enjoying this, and would recommend any footy/soccer fan to try it out for the price, but it comes with a fair few caveats:
CONS:

The roomscale control scheme is eccentric. You have to press a button to free look, which then maintains your orientation. Otherwise you're stuck with head orientation. It's annoying, but It's workable. (If they could manage to track both head & body orientation independently that would be ideal.)

Online numbers are currently extremely low. 2 vs 1 with added bots is the biggest game I've had (and that's with PSVR crossplay).

The bots & goalies are functional but eccentric. Expect defences to evaporate, balls to be left in place, and goalies to pounce at empty air fairly regularly.

It doesn't recognise the Rift 'experimental' set up as roomscale, so you get the giant 'turn around' message.

(...
