***DISCLAIMER** READ BEFORE BUYING:

HELI is not a VR game per say. It is a VR app that emulates helicopter flights around New York city. The tours are not interactive and the simulator is a lot of fun but simplified for easy play. HELI is an exploration of the exhilarating aviation and tourism experience.

HELI is full room scale VR: you can physically move around the helicopter.

Do not judge it against FPS VR games: the helicopter is not equipped with rockets. (yet)

Read the specs requirements: HELI requires a powerful computer for seamless play.

HELI was developed by helicopter pilots.

---------------------------------------------------------------

10 gig download and ends up being REALLY bad when in free flight mode. Horrible controls and nothing in the city is textured except for the few points of interest. In tour mode all you do is ride along through a 360 video. This wouldn't be worth it if it were free.

So you may be asking yourself, what the hell is this HELI game? It's really not a game at all. It has three different apps. Each app deals with exploring New York City. 1. Guided 360 Helicopter Tours of New York. The video quality is not the best I have ever seen, but still it's pretty good. I enjoyed the tours of the five different sites. They are short tours, but you get nice aerial views of the popular tourist spots. The tours include 5 different spots: Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Central Park, and East River (i.e. Manhattan Bridge). You basically circle around each one. You can see things far off in the distance and since you're in high altitude, the people will look like ants. I had never seen New Yourk in this way (and I've never personally visited), but I found the VR tours enjoyable. You are seated in an empty helicopter and I guess you can pretend you're flying the helicopter (if you try really hard to imagine it, lol) 2. Helic...

I was unable to get good performance despite having a gtx 1070 ti, 16 GB of ram and and AMD FX-8350 eight core processor. I was also dissapointed with the controls of the helicopter, because they were too simplified for me, as i fly rc helicopters and was hoping to be able to control pitch, roll, yaw and throttle, instead of the altitude, forwards, and turning to the right controls that i got.

Very disappointed. The tours around the areas have VERY jerky video for outside world, makes you feel nauseous very quickly. The 'game' side of things is bland, no textures on any buildings (except just a small few). I understand they need to keep up the frame rate, but how about an option to switch textures on/off. My GTX1080Ti would cope all day long, and again I understand that not everyone has got one, however, at least give us the option though.

So after reading some of the comments I was fairly skeptic about the game, but it turned out to be a good experience. I've never been to New York so was really excited to get the 360 view of the city in VR, and HELI did not disappoint. The graphics on the tour flights are beautiful! It does feel like a real tour in the city. As for the flight simulator, that's something that has great potential but there's still work to be done. The simulation of controlling the heli is alright, just needs more nuance added to it, but the white models instead of real buildings cooled my initial excitement a bit. King Kong is a nice touch though XD. I didn't have any performance issues as well. It's not for everyone, but overall the game offers great immersion and wows you with amazing views of New York, plus you get to pilot a helicopter into King Kong and stay alive.

Well I've read some other reviews but my computer played it well and I really enjoyed it. Trying to get pictures out of a virtual helicopter that doesn't have doors so you can see better was a bit interesting lol. I enjoyed the experience and being take and shown what I probably won't get to see in my lifetime.

Sadly, you have to add me to the users who couldn't play the game, even though this was the one VR app I REALLY wanted (I love Eurocopter/Airbus and I fly an H-135 in another flight sim as a form of meditation). But I hadn't noticed the specific list of headsets that were supported. I have Windows Mixed Reality (newest Asus) and I can't even get the menu to display, plus the frame rate is horrible and I wasn't able to do almost anything. I am able to play all my other VR games I've bought from Steam just fine, but not this one. Had to request return.
