About This Game

Spreadstorm is a single player adventure game in which you gain control over the analog signal and find yourself in a strange world made up of nodes, lights and perpetual darkness. You get no hint as to who you are and why you are here, neither a clear goal, there is only the way forward. With every step you take you learn the rules of this new world and begin to understand what is going on and what your objective is.

Features

 • Unique game mechanics and world rules which are nowhere explained . There are no tutorials, no guides, no tips. You will have discover and study them yourself through observation and game mapping, otherwise you won’t be able to move forward beyond level four.
 • Three types of defense systems that will attempt to stop you, as will the game world itself.
 • The game world, consisting of 48 interconnected levels with different playthrough options.
 • Complex puzzles of varied type: from puzzles of pure logic and planning, to puzzles requiring quick thinking and reaction. However, you will not be forced to play in a particular style – the game mode is always your choice.
 • Minimalistic atmospheric game world with narrative elements.
 • Powerful in-game level editor: create your own adventure and share it with your friends.

Notice: a controller is strongly recommended to play this game.

So far I've enjoyed the first 4 levels and liking the idea of the game. However on level 5, the aptly named one step ahead, the enjoyment ends. This is where you need to figure out that the more modules you have the slower you are. So you have to ride the inversion signal as it's going along. If you don't then you get stuck so far along. The thing is even with you at max capable speed and holding right after pressing the button to invert you get stuck 3-4 pips along (ie shortly after moving). So you needto be really good at timing to play game by the looks of it. Like virtually perfect levels of timing.

I just generally enjoy those kind of games and this one looks fun. We kinda played it in a group at the office, giving advices and people were stopping asking what are you playing? It is quite interesting to discover different ways to pass the elements. Overall, recommend :)

Not a bad game actually - I just suck at it. If you like a difficult puzzle game which doesn't really explain its sometimes obscure mechanics, then you should try this. Some things still don't seem logical to me, but with enough trial and error you usually figure out the levels sooner or later. Technically and visually the game is well executed as well, the performance is good, and I found no bugs so far.

All you need to know is that you are lonely spark in a boundless universe and you have only one goal — survive! This game is result of fantastic combination of the great gameplay with the creator madness. The great choice how to spend a few hours If you are smart or drunk enough.

This game gives me some Portal 1 vibes, despite it's completely different. Just love the puzzles, music and labs scenery. Purely atmospheric.

if you like games that leave you to explore and learn by yourself with no explanation then this game is for you. it does not give you any kind of tutorials or hints, you will be like Carl Sagan, solving puzzles without knowing how did you solve it or why stuff happens the way they happen. if you are depressed and want something to do while thinking on ways on how to end it , try this game. 3.5 out of 5
TL;DR Can you figure out the rules?
Simple puzzle game where you have to figure out the rules of movement through exploration. You are a point charge moving along a series of electrical connections. Very little explanation is given, you have to figure out the rules of the game-world my moving and interacting. You charge up at each level with a limited amount of power. Spend it on the right things in the right order and you can clear a level. Gradually you learn about the nodes around you and acquire modules that let you do different things (each spending a certain amount of power). In a few places you need some coordination to time a movement, and there's a repeating mini-game that you periodically need to solve (again, no rules are given -- you have to try the controls and figure it out). The graphics are nicely done, sort of like the Portal world. As far as I can tell (a few hours in) there's no dialog. There's also a level editor which I haven't tried.

It's not a good sign that, the more I played Spreadstorm, the less I liked it. At first, I was enjoying myself solving the problems. I was all set to comment that the weaknesses were really only a matter of presentation; no music, and a dark art style that isn't exactly pleasant on the eyes. But the game design in those early levels is completely solid. The description makes a big deal out of how the rules aren't explained; which seems odd to me. Sure, there might not be any text to explain things, but the game does an excellent job of introducing mechanics in ways that teach through gameplay. The mechanics are not like anything I've seen before, and the difficulty level was ideal: challenging, but I never felt it was impossible. In all, I was thinking this was a solid little puzzle game cruelly overlooked in the sea of Steam. Sadly, as the game approached its end, my opinion soured somewhat. While all the early puzzles can be solved as fast or slow as you choose, event...
