Slipstream is a racing game inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from the late 80s and early 90s. It's built on a custom game engine, with an authentic retro feel and unique graphics. The soundtrack, drawing from synthpop and jazz fusion influences, sets the tone for a race across a variety of exotic locations from all around the world, including cities, deserts, forests, mountains and beaches. Drifting and slipstreaming mechanics add depth to the driving gameplay, and the result is a challenging and exciting experience.

For some reason, this game freezes if I have AMD Adrenalin Software installed. I have an AMD graphics card. After I repair installed the drivers and selected Driver Only, it now runs flawlessly. Other than that issue, this is a fantastic racer.

At 9.99 or 7.99 on sale...I still can't recommend this game at this price. Is it playable? Yes ...is it fun? Not really.....the art is 5/10 music 7/10 but the game play is 2/10 for me for the price. At $1.99 I would recommend if you enjoy retro racing games but for me ...80s overdrive has by far been the winner. Cheaper...funner, more achievements. Drive to win to upgrade your car. Colors and scenery are better, cars are better, music can be chosen and changed while racing. Slip stream isn't a bad game, but reminds me of a tiger electronics game and doesn't have enough to keep me interested for upgrades ECT to keep me playing or wanting to come back for more.

It's Outrun with a bunch of Sonic references, a rewind mechanic and vaporwave aesthetic that reminds me of Katana ZERO, and there's Baz from Shovel Knight. The driving is smooth, hitting that perfect drift on corners is incredibly satisfying, the rivals are fun, plenty of gamemodes, difficulty is very flexible so you can either tryhard or just relax. If you want more tracks or cars, this game has Workshop support. My only real complaint is that while having everything unlocked from the beginning is fun and adds to the pick-up-and-play nature of this game, it might disinterest players who want depth or a progression system. All in all, great game. While it's not Game Of The Year, it's worth it for the price, comes with free DLC and perfect for when you're bored. Boot this up and play a round of Grand Tour and some Cannonball races. Drift like your life depends on it or just enjoy the scenery in Andalucia. Anything works.
