About This Game

Rise of the Foederati was formerly an online, massive multiplayer, now single-player focused strategy game that combines real-time strategy with turn-based combat. You play as a leader of one of the many tribes surrounding the Roman borders in mid-5th century AD, and your objective is to lead your warriors into raids, skirmishes and battles to survive. More important than winning battles, however, is to wade through the intricacies of managing your warband, as your soldiers will support your leadership as long as you bring them loot and glory. A weak leader, however, may face discontent warriors that will desert, abandon formations, disrespect your commands, or even challenge you to take control of your group!

Spine-chilling, realistic immersion

What you hear is what it is. A knife stab. A shield blocking an incoming sword. The jingling sound of coins inside a bag. Nearly every sound you hear in Rise was recorded in studios to be as realistic as possible. The eerie feeling before a battle now feels more tense than ever, with dynamic music that shifts with a battle's progress.

Deep, intricate, and tactical gameplay

Witness your soldiers improve as they wage wars with you.

Historical accuracy
The Dark Ages (or, more accurately, Migration Period) as you have never seen before. Rise of the Foederati has historical accuracy down to the most minimal detail. From the pronounciation of one of the dozen extinct languages of the period to the design of warriors' armaments, the experience you have is as historically accurate as it gets.

Politics paved with power and casualties
An ever-changing political scene awaits you. Within each swing of the pendulum of power, you'll be forced to make decisions that may have long-term repercussions. For example, if a huge force from a previously neutral tribe attacks your own, it may require your warband to ally itself with old enemies against this new threat.

Rally your friends, raid your enemies, protect your tribe*
Hundreds of players are present at the same time in Rise. Your movements and battles are present in real-time; there are no instances in the world. Your actions make a mark in the world. The more people you bring to your side, the bigger your actions are.

Support this game, if you like turn based tactical battles with great historical content and want to support small indie Devs and be involved in development this is the game for you. At this price you cannot go wrong, this is going to be a classic all being well

This game is literally the developer's side project. It still has simple bug issues. Closing the managing warband and reopening the managing warband button results in units not displayed on screen. Turning off tooltips is bugged. It takes 2 to 3 times before it turns off. Every time you start a new warband, it will popup. The few game reviews displayed is a joke. Some of these people barely spent an hour playing and gave positive reviews for the developer. This game is nowhere near 25% or one quarter completed. It has a price tag of $8.99 usd. In reality the current game state makes it about $3-5. The main problem is lack of content. It lacks an open roaming world map, faction stories, and missions. All it has is turn based combat multiplayer. There is no way to replenish stamina and health after a battle. Some factions are missing inventory in their stash from the very beginning. Developer's so-called current "roadmap" is to have 4 to 6 factions per year from 2020 to 2023. I looked a...

If you're a fan of turn-based combat then this is a game to watch or even get (it's fairly cheap). As of now there's only a few tribes to choose from but for what it does have, it's sure to satisfy your turn-based combat cravings. In my opinion, it's like the grid and (some of) the mechanics of Final Fantasy Tactics fielded with units from Mount and Blade. So far the only thing I don't like about it is the "turn timer". Finishing your turn before a certain time adds to morale but not finishing your turn before it runs out results in a loss to morale. Both gain and reduction to morale from the timer is minor. For multiplayer I understand it's use but I think it should be removed for single player.

Has potential. Needs a lot of work. Lacks basic functions. There are quality games for less or about as much money.

this had promise but now is another abandoned EA. Spend your money elsewhere.

Alright, where to Start? First of all, it is obviously not finished, there's some bugs here and there. But, if you just want to play it for fun, or don't care about clicking. I do recommend this. It's set in a side of History that nearly no game covers. And the Developers are still trying to get this game to work, Kudos for that determination! They have already admitted this will take time, so why not wait? It's...Fairly accessible, in my opinion, and they do need the funds to get this ongoing. So i say, yes, buy this game, let's have some matches, let's fight for who gets the spoils, and let's all just make this the Wild West (Hispania Edition)
