I see everyone loving it, and while i see some features that i like in these kind of games, and can tell the game is polished. Just doesn't hit for me. Its not complicated enough and i feel like im just clicking and adding stuff without changing much, and that the more teams i make just the better it'll get. Most likely i haven't explore the game fully yet. But after some hours i got a little bored and couldn't think of a very exciting continuation of the game. It has a lot of features, but somethings just didn't clicked enough for me. I come from playing software inc, and that game is just Too good to be compared i guess, and even if this game scratches some of the features, i just don't feel enough the strugle a developer has, and feel more like click to success. It can use some of your brain, and there things to design etc. But unfortunately i didn't get that amazing feeling other people felt with this game, i even like mad games tycoon a little more. Maybe, i have to just give i...

About This Game
City Game Studio is a deep management game set in a city where you can manage several studios. Create and manage your own video game company, run several studios, create tons of games. Enjoy dozens of hours of gameplay and watch the money flow, or deal with the banker!

January 1976, you've just created your own video game company. You are renting a tight place that allows you to develop your first game. Quickly, your games are successful and you already have to move, but it is up to you to cross the city to pick your next local. In the blink of an eye you are hiring artists to improve the visual aspect of your games. Next came developers and then testers.
But a problem remains, even if your games are brilliant, you don't have enough fans to self-publish a big game to make your studio profitable. You will have to turn to video game editors who will carve out the lion's share. Chaining successes is the only way of getting rid of the publishers. Furthermore you will be able to publish your own publishing contracts. Then you will then be ready to dominate the market and buy back your competitors.

City Game Studio is the outcome of several years' work by a single living being - well, a single human being. Except for the soundtrack, which was composed by a talented musician: Conciliator!

My oh my this surprised me. Its honestly comparable to the glory days of Game Dev sim and im all for it. The game has insane replayability, great mechanics, great features, and modding! dev is active and respected, community engages quite often, and overall its an amazing game fto kickstart a new era of game dev sims. 8.5/10
City Game Studio is a great management game in the vein of Game Dev Tycoon. A step forwards in complexity, it manages to add just enough extra levers to provide a fun level of challenge. From more complex Marketing, purchasing or building studios and convention centers, to taxes, sequels and developing your own console, City Game Studio expands on the original presented concepts in ways that are mostly effective and engaging. The game does offer plenty of tools to automate some processes once your company grows in size. If anything I would say the game's main drawback is it's simplistic art style; it looks exactly the same as the indie game that it is working from which released more than a decade ago. Some more dramatic imagery for released games or consoles; perhaps cutscenes for transitioning between different hardware generations or company milestones. A bit more polish would have made this an all time great. Everything being said, if you enjoy Management/Tycoon ga...
In my opinion, City Game Studio is a slightly better Game Dev Tycoon, but it also has it's own set of issues. I find the studio competitor gameplay mechanic to become tedious and it falls flat, and your studios eventually balloon to unmanageable size where it just isn't fun to play anymore. That is main problem for me, as your playthrough gets pretty boring after a few hours. The campaigns are also much longer than Game Dev Tycoon, which I would have liked, if it wasn't for this issue. On the positive, every other gameplay mechanic ripped from Game Dev is here, but expanded upon, and it does feel much less RNG. That being said, with mods, Game Dev Tycoon still comes out on top for me. However, if you're looking for a purely vanilla experience, pick up City Game Studio instead.
Only reason to buy this is if you like making multiple games and the idea of expanding operations by buying up and moving from properties. Otherwise this is inferior to other games that target the same sort of gameplay loop. Oh and expect no sense sliders, is not a good sign when artificial intelligence is unimportant for making decent strategy games. Like it feels as if you have to put in no thought, and just blow money till the game tells you what to do to earn good reviews, then you sit on your ass and micro manage every single studio you made to make the same games, in the same ways, with no alterations. I appreciate that there was some thought behind how game game engines work. I do not appreciate however how options are hidden from you, and you need to just make everything based off memory as options during development are only shown in a specific sequence. meaning if you picked a engine feature that left a teach point unspent, you will get a review penalty for not using the whol...
Like the old Game Dev Studio game... but on steroids. Quite a lot more to do, unlock, engage with, etc. The only downside (and there aren't many) is that you really need multiple playthroughs to unlock every achievement. My one playthrough was about 7 hours or so, and I had a blast, but I doubt I'll go back to play it again. Totally worth the money though.
It's good, and that's about all it's got going for it. The game "round" cycle seems rushed, yet slow at the same time. Creating more than 3 games at once is a burden. Micro-management is pointless when development is drowned out by all the popups. If you like tycoon games give it a try, you might like it more than I did.
i dont even know at what price i just bought but i just dumped 10 straight hours and its a good bit of fun, I was a mid sized company with 6-8 rated games until i got a 10/10 and suddenly i had crazy money like crazy money i dont know if that is the intended behaviour of 10-10 but most of my games used to rack like 2M tops and then BOOM 1G from there i was consistently 8-10 without exclusivity on as many Linux and "Skylight" platforms i could now im gonna check the mods but i know i paid a decent price and already got a good bit of fun so i can easily recommend it : )
