About This Game

Unknightly Public Beta

Unknightly is currently in its Public Beta stage.
We want to be very clear and transparent with our community on what to expect from the current version regarding to the game's current state and implications of deciding to support us at this point in the development process.
So please, before reading on, please consider taking a moment to go through our "Launch Announcement".

We thank you sincerely you for supporting us at this stage and being willing to take part in the vibrant community
that helps shape Unknightly and build it into one of the finest stealth games VR has ever seen.

Short Background Story

Unknightly is a medieval VR stealth game designed from the ground up for virtual reality.

You assume the role of a retired master-thief as he is drawn back into a life once thought left behind, to come to the aid of an old comrade, in the eternal tale of greed-fueled and power-starved men seeking to impose their will upon the masses, regardless of the cost.

VR: Stealth First

This is first and foremost a stealth game, so there's almost always multiple ways to solve every challenge.
Using combat to eliminate guards is viable but not mandatory, and might not always be possible!
Instead, you are encouraged to think through different situations and find ways to get around unnoticed,
steal valuable items, and get out without being caught!

Stealth and Cunning?

 • Move around you will have to sneak past guards and climb walls.
 • Walk around in shadows and avoid areas with a lot of light to stay invisible even when walking close to guards.
 • Be careful not to make loud noises to avoid making guards suspicious.
 • Throw objects around to distract guards and create a window of opportunity for you to execute your plans!
 • And more...

The Experience & Choice

 • Choice in how you approach each and every level. There is always more than one path to the objective.
 • Scout through technically challenging and visually compelling environments in search of valuable objects.
 • Feel the tension creep up on you as you realize that every mistake could be fatal.

Update 2: Now the major update #4 is here for some time and I checked back in. Now there is a menu in form of a book on the side of your belt. You can go through the pages with your hands and use the writing feather on top of the book to change settings. A welcome new addition indeed. The guards are now have more viarity in their speech an overall it feels more alive. Minor bugfixes. Overall great improvements for the best stealthgame in vr you can get atm if you are a fan of the old Thief 1 + 2 games. Update: My long overdue update. UK has to this day highly improved and its getting better and better with every update. Gameplaymechanics are tweaked, free locomotion is added, AI behavior vastly improved, new missions. This game is the best "Thief Dark Project" like vr stealth game you can get. Nearly all my complains in my first impression are solved. Definitly worth your money. Original Post: First impression after finishing the beta First of all this is by far the best s...

For a fan of Thief-type games, this is absolutely a must try. I was concerned about the locomotion being arm-swinger and I've never enjoyed that in a game until now. They really nailed the ability to vary the movement speed to be exactly what you need at any time - you can VERY slowly crawl, you can walk, you can run, you can do anything in between that you need. Lots of things are done right in the game - checkpoints, jumping, climbing, stealing, multiple paths through rooms, dragging guards, light and sound indicators, throwing items to distract guards, stabbing helmet-less guards, etc. I just want more content but the building blocks are great! Looking forward to more levels as EA moves along.

I would love to recommend it, as it seems to be everything I could want out of a VR version of Thief: The Dark Project, which is one of my favorite games of all time... Unfortunately, despite being released 5 years ago, it only has about 3 hours of content, and it seems to be completely abandoned. It appears no one has heard from the dev in over a year. Worth trying out if you're curious, but I can't recommend paying for it in its current state, as it's more like a demo than a full game.

Well, I just had to change my review completely. Everything I had mentioned in it in gone or severely nerfed. Idk how I would rate this now, as I don't feel like playing through without everything I liked. This might still be a good stealth game, but I'll let you be the judge. Previously this game gave you almost limitless movement and let you approach encounters with much more variety. Now your character has stamina which affects your movement speed, jump height and ability to climb, which killed the whole Predator approach. Since the update, its nice and slow like most stealth games, and that was probably the intent of the dev in the first place. TL;DR: This is now obese Predator simulator.

DO NOT BUY THIS! The developer has abandoned it, and is giving NO reason to his own paying customers. No updates, no nothing. It makes no sense to continue to support projects like this when a lazy worthless developer like him doesn't even have the human decency to give some kind of sign or notice to anyone what the current state is. LOOK, just like you, I am SICK to my stomach of supporting these projects, only to watch them crash and burn with no notice or any message from the author. If something happened and you can't continue the project anymore for whatever reasons, at least TELL PEOPLE SOMETHING! We've watch this sort of thing happen over and over again with games like Gates of Nowhere and Primordian. Games that stay in Early Access or release with issues and not get fixed, for sometimes YEARS and NEVER get finished. We try to be supportive of small developers, and be understanding with them that they are doing the best they can, but they have a responsibility to address t...

Another game in Early Access limbo/hell. Released in 2017 and I last played almost 2 years ago when I bought it. I checked again today (Feb 2023) to see if anything changed, nothing. It's a shell of a game, there is insultingly little content for the asking price. The content that's there seems like a half baked idea. I got it on sale and I don't feel like it was worth it. It also takes just over 2 hours to complete the content if you take stealth seriously, which seem kinda sus to me.

The thief VR clone idea is awesome. But the bows feel quite jank compared to most other games. Plus the locamotion for left handed people is wrong. This makes it impossible to play for us cursed kak handed folks without using the 'natural movement system', swinging our arms around in violent panic as the guards come at us like a pack of Daleks. All we can do is claw our way up the nearest wall and hold on for dear life as impending doom nips at our heels with single animation sword strokes. I would recommend this for regular people (right handed) who enjoyed the Thief series and want to mess around in this neat VR world. But I thought I'd warn my fellow left fated brothers out there that its one of 'those games'. 5/7
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I do recommend this game but one should lower their expectations. A lot of people are mentioning Thief and VR and this is not it, the game is not close to that level of gameplay. However, it is so far the best stealth game in VR. Although, I can imagine something a lot better than this. There's just an overall lack of production values and depth to the gameplay. I could never pick up anything off the ground except guards even though you can set your height. There was food on the table that I couldn't reach. You do have to crawl at certain points of the gameplay and to finish the tutorial. I had to try several times and reset my height and reset my view from Oculus until finally I was able to squeeze through and I literally had my head on the ground. At the same thime, certain things do work well. You really do have to sneak past guards and be mindful of the sound you're making or the light which may increase your vis...

Good challenging fun in VR. Unknightly is a stealth/action VR game. Sneak past everyone in various ways to get keys to get notes, treasure and unlock gates and get to the end of the dungeon. Normal difficulty is fairly forgiving but still not something you can blow through. You can go total stealth or take out some guards if needed with your blade, arrows or use distractions. There are a lot of options for sound, locomotion and video so I won't go into detail on that. Pretty self explanatory. The graphics were decent in the VIVE Pro at 130%. When playing I was on my knees a lot my first play through but I may have been just a little too cautious. I would imagine playing the game a lot will make using the tools at your disposal more effective. This game would definately benefit from a large play space. There are only 2 dungeon levels so far with the addition of a tutorial and more on the way. As you can see my first noob play through of dungeon 1 was about 2hrs.+ with the tutorial. I am ...

when I bought the game I didnot have high hopes, well I am glad I bought it . I knew it is a stealth game but I imagined it to be cheap and easy but I was wrong , the game is great and really hard but extremely satisfying when ever you completer a mission because of how hard it is, NOW HERE ARE THE PROS AND CONS PROS; -immerseve experince -really hard but satisfying game -you dont feel overpowered because you r in vr( what I mean is that some games are mutch easier in vr because you are in there instead of playing with a mouse and keyboard) -there controls are suitable for this kind of game CONS -the textures arenot that great (they are not bad but not great) -there is only one mission and the toturial (witch feels like a mission if I am honest but they dont count it as one )as if 1-12-2017 -you may experince some buggs while playing (personly I only experinced one bug and no crashes) FOR THE DEV : I experinced a bug in the toutrial so the bug was that when I went throug...
