About the Game

Tactical AR is a training platform for firearms skills in virtual reality. We make training engaging, and accessible to help individuals be prepared to protect life. Muscle memory, and reaction time is built through repetition, and measured through data. All of our weapon profiles can be recalibrated to make sure that what you see, matches the grip angle of the weapon you run in the real world. Our training courses are scored on time, to induce stress. Each course of fire tracks top scores to help measure improvement and consistency. Our platform makes heavy use of dynamic content, and provides tools for editing and creating additional content while in VR. All SteamVR and Oculus headsets now fully supported, including Quest and Quest 2 on Link Unique Features: We currently support 3 external firearms controllers, with more on the way. Current Course Support Over 20 unique run and gun courses currently available, with more on the way, and we have an In VR Course builder Live in game Current controller support: All Standard VR controllers (Grip angle of all weapons is customizable per profile) Sony Sharpshooter Cabela's Top Shot Elite (PS3) Current Movement Support: Controller based directional movement (Menu button, and direction controller is facing, when at a low ready, and pointing your muzzle at the ground) Course Builder: Select Level Builder profile, and follow the on screen instructions to start making your own. A future release will include built in course sharing features.

Update #2: With the addition of support for the Cabelas Top Shot, this game is even more amazing. I mean it. I can't even imagine the immersion with their drop in kit for the AR. While I will get that kit, in the meantime I swapped out the Top Shot stock with an M4 stock and electrical taped an extra M4 handguard I had laying around to the forearm. Sure, it looks ghetto in person but in VR it feels just like my old M4 in the Infantry. Absolutely love it! It's worth everything just for the amount of ammo you save for muscle memory training. Update: Game is still awesome and the rifle is now out. If you just want to play with the Vive controllers and not buy a 3rd party gun you can easily. The way the developers made the game, you can use one controller and support it on your non-firing hand like an actual rifle, it works great. Previous review: I've been wanting a VR game with a static pop-up range forever (although there are other ranges that are great). Currently, I'm only seeing t...

I got this game purely because I had a sony sharpshooter laying around doing nothing. Hooked up my ps move controller, 3d printed the vive holder, and loaded up this game. WOW! There is something so imersive about actually having a rifle in your hand instead of just a controller. I can't wait to see where this game goes, I'm enjoying the early access so far.

Not recommended for training - Innovative controller work and interesting training concept. However true muscle memory would require accurate recoil and ballistics rivaling real world counterparts. This could also introduce bad muscle memory due to the movement mechanics and the reality of VR. You would need to retrain. I can't overstate the importance of accurate recoil in training to fire the weapon effectively. It could be a great game - Just my opinion but this title would do well to have a single player campaign and tactical scenarios. Maybe online coop. I would recommend this as a game if it had more game play. The training concept could be focused on SOP rehearsal and scenarios.

Love the game/simulation. As an old retired soldier, I found it quite enjoyable. I look forward to additional weapons and scenarios.

Wow! This is a great example of how VR can improve real life skills. I have been playing with my WMR controller and it works great, but I just found out that they have a Fire Control Group(FCG) that can mount in existing AR-15 to provide you with hands on experience with your own weapon. I would love to see more VR apps like this one. With the price of the FCG though, I think they should include the app. Very realistic, and fun! Have fun training in multiple scenarios, and who knows the training from Tactical AR might just save your life one day!

Tactical AR has one of the most promising interface modifications I have seen in VR, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more immersive shooting experience. Please keep in mind that this is a shooting range experience that is the developers are attempting to replicate. The realm of map and technical design, they succeed as well or better than the other shooting range style experiences you can find for the Vive. The focus on novel interface innovation is what I am recommending about Tactical AR. It supports two off-the-shelf console rifles that you can pick up cheaply at any used games store, the Cabela Topshot Elite, and the Sony Sharpshooter. This is something I wish that more software makers would build off of, and it would be great to see this feature could be incorporated into something like Onward or Pavlov. One of their more interesting innovations is a system using two Vive Trackers and a Vive wand to make it possible to run in place in order to move forwar...
