The learning curve in Battlevoid: Sector Siege is steeper compared to the first game in the series, which initially made me think that this is not a fun game to play. After completing a couple of missions and getting a good grip on the system, I like this a lot. It's a different game for sure and probably not intended at all to replicate the mechanics of the first Battlevoid game, for which reason I think it's kind of unfair to compare this game to that one. TL;DR: An enjoyable game!
