Beautiful game that deserves more attention ! I really loved the game, and Eastshade now feels like a home that I'm sure I will come to discover back over again in a couple of years. I might even start to learn painting again in a near future, thanks to that game ! No matter how much I enjoyed the game, I have a few warnings to make about this game, though. This game does not use Steam Cloud. If you uninstall the game completely or want to play on another PC, you won't have your save when getting back to it ! There are a few bugs that may force you to reload a previous save , especially when using the reed boat, so be careful when using it ! Avoid spawning it in a place where the shore is too close or where there are too many rocks and DO NOT CLIMB ON IT IF IT IS A BIT SHAKY. (I got stuck under the ground because of that once, and another time it was the boat who was stuck in deep water where you cannot go.) But apart from these bugs and a few weirdly placed invisib...

Eastshade is one of the few non-combat adventure games I've played that feels like an actual adventure, rather than a walking simulator. I absolutely love the characters and world that the devs created; it's original and quaint, and there are literary references thrown in that complement Eastshade's overall tone extremely well. This game is fully self-propelled, and I like how they created barriers to limit progressing too quickly through the main quest without breaking the story or making it seem grindy. The inspiration mechanic is refreshing and makes the main character feel like more of an artist. I'm also a sucker for fishing in video games, which was a fun addition to the gameplay. The achievements were fun to pursue and I experienced minimal bugs or issues. Eastshade is clearly a labor of love, and I think that if you like adventure and story games, art, and/or literature, you're going to truly enjoy this one!
Finding beauty in the imperfect world <3
Eastshade looks and feels like a fairy tale, full of beautiful vistas, interesting stories and actual, spontaneous exploration. It is one of the few games that managed to truly surprise me - many times! Also, the painting mechanic makes you actually look at the world, instead of just traversing it - allowing the "backgrounds" to take a major role. And the most interesting thing for me: is how "realistic" and imperfect Easthade's world feels, despite its "coziness" <3 [From this point forward this review will contain spoilers] Like the best "cozy" games, Eastshade has everything: "who dunnit" mysteries, abusive parents, high taxes, grounds for revolution - but also pure, undiluted fairytale allure. The moment when I heard the drums playing in the night and followed them to fairies; the moment when I first got on the air baloon; almost every moment I placed down the canvas - these moments have forever been engraved in my memory. I ca...
One of the best game experiences I've ever had, exactly what I had been searching for years, when it finished I was in tears because I knew I couldn't experience it again for the first time. If you have the opportunity play it, it's worth every dollar it costs
Absolutely LOVED this game! There were a few glitches/bugs, but it could have been due to either the game itself or my hardware. You could easily get lost in the world of Eastshade. I can't remember a game before this one where I'd deliberately spend hours visiting and revisiting every square inch of the game's map. I'm sure I've missed some areas but overall I loved every bit of it. The world is so expansive and beautiful. Not just all the different characters you meet or the places you visit, but some of the inner workings of the game's world. The oral stories told at the tavern, the rival cults, and everything else makes this fantasy world feel so real. My favorite part would have to be exploring all of the woods, collecting the various items. This is something I'd enjoyed doing when I was younger and this game is full of nostalgia in that aspect. The way the characters were written made me develop real emotions about them. Some I hated, some I loved. I could s...
It is a beautiful game. There is no violence; it has a nice story, a beautiful ending. It is a very relaxing game.
A game made with love. Very relaxing, great stories
What an enchanting game. It's pretty small, as much as you'd expect from a small indie studio's first game, but that in no way acts to its detriment as they've done a great job of fleshing out what is in the game, into an experience that feels very complete and rewarding without dragging out the time for the sake of "content". Overall makes it very manageable and enjoyable; I played a little bit some nights after work, and spread out my 10-14 hours of gameplay across a couple of months, and I found myself looking forward to returning to it. Some days I just took a walk and painted in the world, instead of following up on quests or commissions. There is something uniquely fairytale-like about the world, the scenery, the way the characters talk and the sounds of nature mix with the music. The fact that you play as a traveling painter only serves to heighten this sense of something very pure and whimsical, and focus your attention on the world and its moments. I found myself just enjoyin...
I've been on a bit of a peaceful game kick lately, and Eastshade is the one game that kept me coming back. The world is beautiful, the characters endearing, and the simple act of exploration has never been so rewarding. Not to mention you can paint at any time, provided you have enough Inspiration to do so, and if you click Export Paintings in the pause menu then anything you paint will be saved to your computer for you to enjoy any time you want. They're not just screenshots either - they're actually designed to look like paintings, brushstrokes and all. I didn't want to finish Eastshade as I reached the end of my first playthrough, and not long after I ultimately finished it I was starting a new game. I certainly have other games to play, many of which are more action-packed or exciting...but I still find myself longing for Eastshade. I find myself longing to take a stroll through the Blushwoods looking for Inky Caps or enjoy a storyteller's show at the Tarnished Teapot, not be...
It's a chill game with a beautiful world.
