About This Game

A Sandbox-Adventure-Pirate-RPG that takes inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean (2003 video game), FTL: Faster Than Light, and Sid Meier's Pirates but makes certain to stand out on its own.

  • Explore a massive world with unique islands and landscapes. Discuss rumors and discover the origins of each island by talking to the people that live there
  • Expect the unexpected when at sea. Events you may be unprepared for may occur such as a foodborne illness among your crew. You'll need to have access to the right supplies and have the experience to keep your ship afloat
  • A casual but real challenge - While simple to pickup and understand, there are numerous events that only an experienced swashbuckler will be prepared for. This makes the game more satisfying for long term pirates
  • Thoughtfully executed cutscenes that help to bring the world to life as well as reward pirates that explore

  • Sailing between islands is necessary to expand your control over the world and to increase your reputation
  • Tending to the morale, hunger, and thirst of your crew will require you to maintain a supply of food/water and consider whether or not rationing food is required during long journeys
  • Governing islands you've conquered is a difficult responsibility as you will need to solve economic issues before they get out of hand
  • Purchase larger ships as you fight your way through the sea. Famously powerful vessels such as the Galleon and Man of War are but a few of the available ships

Bonus features

  • Community translations and a translation tool that simplifies the process for contributors
  • Unique leaderboard system that tracks your overall career as a pirate across multiple saves
  • Quick access to developers for easy discussion/suggestions
  • Save compatibility between updates

While I love the premise and it's simplicity, it's TOO simple and after about 2 hours there's not much left to do unless you want to unlock the best ship. The quests are repetitive and there are not many places to go, and all the places you do get to go to are more or less all the same in terms of what they can provide you with. I got this on sale for $0.99 which was a great price, can't recommend it for $10 though unless a lot more stuff comes out for this in the future.

Do you know the game Pixel Privateers? This game concept is pretty much exactly like that, but better, it actually works. I can't say it's bug free, or that it's content at the moment is limitless. You go around sailing your ship across multiple islands, each time you do, more time passes by in the game. As game time passes by, YOUR Islands (Which are gained via battles or the first initial one) may have gained new stock, may have defended against attacking pirates, increased in population, gained you revunue and etc. This game is nowhere near complete, which also means it has a lot of Potential. At the moment there's only 3 ships (That I know of), but if you are looking for a pirate game where you conquer islands, sink or grapple other ships, manage a crew and feed them, and sailing the seven seas, then this game is just for you.

I'm confused by the good reviews for this overpriced game. The art and music are weak and the gameplay is fetch quests with thoughless clicks.

saw my favorite youtuber, Draegast, playing this game and it looked awesome..bought it, downloaded in a giffy and instantly played about 3 hours on the game..there is soo much to do and soo much risk as you travel from island to island upgrading and finding treasure, not to mention that you fight pirates that slowly upgrade ships as you do. Needing to keep track of ship HP with repairing with wood, as well as crew hunger and thirst, as well as moral, all of which you have to manage inventory levels of wood, food, and water.

GAME-BREAKING BUG, ABANDONED GAME. Don't waste your money. Game is broken and the developer doesn't care. The last post from the developer in the Steam forums was 11 months ago as of this writing and the last post (aside from mine) in the Steam forums was 8 months ago. The bug I'm referring to below was reported BACK IN 2018, WHICH IS 3 YEARS AGO AS OF THIS WRITING! A WHOPPING 1 PERSON playing the game as of this writing according to the Steam Database. Game is dead and not worth your money, even at $10 USD. The general stores are bugged. Not 100% sure if this is why, but it seems if you buy all the stock a general store has of a certain item you run the risk of crashing the game. If this happens, every single time you visit the general store in that particular town you'll crash again. This means that eventually you'll have to remember which towns you can and can't resupply at, which is more than just a minor inconvenience since if it happens at enough general stores you won't be abl...

This game is boring. Not because it's too "simple" or "casual" (there's nothing inherently wrong with that), but because there is practically no input required by the player at all. You'll very quickly end up in the following loop: get a delivery quest, buy cannonballs, select you destination, wait for a travel timer to complete (during which random battle encounters can happen), get paid for delivery quest, rinse and repeat. The ship-to-ship combat boils down to holding down an attack button and hoping your cannonballs hit more often than your enemies' (or just have more cannons). It's almost like JRPG combat. You do have the option to board the enemy vessel, at which point you then have the choice of having your crew fight for you (which just means the ship with the most crew wins) or doing a one-vs-one sword fight yourself to determine the outcome. This sword fighting is the only part in the game that requires the player to be somewhat conscious; you can attack high, low, or center...

I'm sorry to say anything negative since I know the devs are a small team and they put love into this game, but I did not enjoy it. The art is brash and lacking warmth, the story elements are not very engaging and about as deep as "transport poop", and the combat and action elements lack any real control. They are mostly repetitive. The game menus and islands are repetitive and mostly just about clicking through menus quickly. There are much better games out there. Monkey island 2 from 1993 has a much better pirate feel and better art.

Very very fun game, by far one of the best games Ive played in a while. Its one of those games where you can sit in discord with your friends and play this game and just have a good time. Ive already beat the game got the best ship with 150 crew and beat all the missions. If you're looking for a game that has a lot of missions to offer it isnt this right now but the devs are working on new missions and more to do. But why not get a head start and build up your crew and gold so when they do add more you have a head start to get more and more! Just keep an open mind its an Early access game and there may be a few bugs (I havent run into any at all so far). Overall I think there is huge potential for this game. Have fun playing!

Don't Sink is a game that is clearly a labour of love, but doesn't offer much beyond a colourful presentation. I found the control scheme to be unintuitive, and the UI lacks several key features such as an inventory/ship management screen, in-game time/day tracking (aside from listing the travel time required), and explanations for what factors affect the statistics of captured towns and what effect these statistics have on the towns. Similarly, no explanation is given for what effects the morale, hunger, and thirst have on your crew, if any, aside from causing them to die when it reaches zero. The depth of play is extremely shallow, even for a casual game, and the replayability is essentially nil as the game stands. The scaling of mission and encounter difficulty seems haphazard, with an end-game tier mission becoming available almost from the start of the game. Visually, it's a very nice game, but it's a shame that it lacks the gameplay depth to match. While I liked the game well...

This game is DEFINITELY NOT worth 10 bucks, however, if it's cheaper than 2 - you're safe to buy yourself a casual experience. I spent three and a half hours on this game and I felt like the 0,99EU I paid was reasonable. Don't expect amazing replayability, it's one of those games that you just complete 100% and never play them again except maybe in a couple of years because of nostalgia or whatever.
