About This Game

An endless nightmare awaits Johanna Prokuri!

She was once a prodigy, capable of creating powerful automatons and other machines.
But three years ago, she lost her creativity during a nightmare.

One day a charming mole named Montgomery appears in her dreams.
He warns her that a Dream Demon "cursed" her with something known as the Mare Noctem.
The loss of her creativity is just one of the symptoms and she's about to turn into a monster soon.

Now the duo is hunting Dream Demons together and try to find a way to get rid of her curse before it's too late.

 • An interactive combat system with action commands. Aim with your skills and evade enemy attacks.

 • Build and personify your battle machine to fight off Dream Demons. Find a way for “more inspiration” to unlock additional modules.

 • Many characters, all with their own goals, fears and dreams. You can bond with them if you deem it necessary, maybe it pays off to be nice?

 • A big plot tree which allows to see the whole story from different angles.

 • Dogs which can be pet.

 • Many special boss battles, all with their own high quality soundtrack.

Review as of chapter 2: As of now, while the exploration and combat are pretty standard for this type of game, where TDE really shines is its story. Some of the dialogue, especially in the more intimate conversations, is really well done and gives substance to the characters. The funny bits also got some hearty chuckles out of me. Also, the suspenseful moments really do their job well. That, combined with the tough choices you make along the way, make for quite the engaging ride, which I'm curious to see how it will turn out when new chapters release in the future. If you're interested in a story with lots of twists and turns, in which your choices actually determine the course, give this game a shot!

Currently playing trough it got it random on a sale. The story is at the start a little weird but rich of action. Also the gameplay is nothing special basically paper mario but well done. From a balance point of view till now everything is well balanced and the fights are fun. Not sure how it proceeds but im positivly impressed because this is not your average RPG Maker game with free Assets. If you like darker stories and story rich rpgs then go for it.

This game is an underrated, understated incredibly fun experience. If you like RPG horror classics or the early Paper Mario games, TDE marries those concepts beautifully. Plus Isecar :)

While the beginning is a little long, and perhaps a little rough, stick with it. By fifteen minutes in I was sent to another dimension where hands stuck out of the ground in what could only be described as a fever dream on par with Psychonauts. This game really tends to go from 0, to 100 in terms of legit scaring and putting you into creepy situations. And I like that, it reminds me of playing the mysterious yet dark T rated games as a kid again. Let it be known though, this is more visual novel with rpg elements second. Lots of reading, but really good dialogue and characters. Tons of fun interactions, lots of heart to hearts, and... *bonk* But, the rpg elements are nearly just as good when they are there! Lots of great skills, easy to understand mechanics, and an even more intriguing leveling system! If you've read up to this point, then the icing on the cake is the fact that YOU get to choose the story! There were so many choices I didn't think I'd get to have, yet the game gave...

Legitimately one of the most underrated games on Steam. With the amount of people craving an experience akin to the first two Paper Mario titles, it's surprising I haven't seen more buzz about TDE. That's not to say it's only great because of the PM influence though; far from it. The narrative is intriguing, the characters are incredibly likable, (Johanna especially is a great protagonist) and the combat iterates on the action-command formula in ways that build upon what it was inspired by.

I quite enjoyed the first chapter. It has a lots of dialogue, some bringing a smirk or even laughter to my face. The art style is very nice and the Indie graphics make it even better in my opinion. The different decisions don't feel easy to do and require some actual decision-making furthermore is the usage of the death and restart quite interesting. The story so far has for obvious reasons not progressed that much but until now it is definitely something to look forward to. You can see the love the developer has brought to this game and hopefully it will be seen in the future chapters. All in all that game has a lot of fun elements, ideas and most important potential.

First off, I would like to disclaim that I played most of the game off-steam, as shamefully, that is how I first discovered it, but despite that, I'm happy I did. Approximate playtime would equate to about 4 hours. (including replays, game currently contains 1 polished chapter, with more to come relatively soon) Personally, this game seemed like a tame, humble flash game inspired game appearance-wise, with tasteful hand drawn background and classic anime character icons during chat, but there's more that lies beyond just stunning looking indie game graphics and cute art. The game has quite an intriguing story which makes you want more, has branching story paths and pulls quite a few tricks on you at times. That being said, it is very important to acknowledge the fact that the game is indeed still in development, and many features are still being worked on, so the best thing you can do is wait and give feedback and opinions to the developer, in a form of constructive criticism ...

When i first started to play this early access game, i couldn't stop till i finished the first chapter (That's all you can play right now) and im looking forward or more. The characters are created with love for detail and the story starts right away. Sometimes it's a bit spooky, but in a goob way. The fights are pretty hard, but winable. Funny to play, would recommend!
