Short version: I liked it. Despite what some people think, it isn't a clone of anything. Expect 3 to 6h to complete. Direct improvement of first ReThink game. Long version: For starters, I'll say I'm used to First Person Puzzle games, I like this genre. I completed Portal, Talos Principle, Magnetic Cage Closed, QUBE, Antichamber, and others, including ReThink (the previous game). Now, the review: ReThink | Evolved is, basically, a direct improvement of ReThink, as the name suggested it. Core mechanic: you place various cubes freely (instead of on a grid-like structure for the previous game) to redirect colored lasers from their source to colored end points. Several types of cubes are there, from the basic "straight that way" to "split the colors", "source cubes" and a few others. In later tests, "shieldbridges" (toggleable bridges) will add some difficulty. Later again, you'll have to think the puzzles in 3D. If you didn't like the floor-tiles puzzles from the first game, there a...

ReThink Evolved is a first person puzzle game similar to Portal and The Talos Principle. The player must progress through a series of test chambers, where the primary puzzle mechanic involves using cubes to redirect coloured laser beams to activate switches of the same colour. The basic concept is easy to understand, but later levels add complexity by including other objects and hazards. - Use “V” or “W” cubes to send a single beam in multiple directions, to simultaneously activate two or three switches. - Combine red, blue and green lasers to activate purple, yellow, turquoise and white switches. - Use special cubes to split purple, yellow, turquoise and white lasers back into red, blue and green. - Weigh down pressure plates to deactivate cube destroying barriers. - Activate light bridges, float through pockets of low gravity, and use bounce pads to cross gaps and reach higher platforms. - Use remote control cubes to toggle switches on and off, for example to lower a lift, t...
It is a great first person puzzle game similar to Portal - but without portals. The puzzles are nice, not too easy, not too hard. But you can stumble upon your cubes and easily mess up the puzzle you were just about to solve. Maybe it was just me, but it happened occasionally to me. The visuals are really nice with a mix of slick modern architecture and vegetation using the new Unreal Engine.
This game is a technical desaster! It runs like crap, and doesn't look even good. The low frame rate hurts the gameplay A LOT. The physics don't work correctly with a low framerate, and many puzzles rely on the physics. Avoid!
While this is a sequel of sorts the ReThink with the same puzzle mechanism (laser light manipulation), Evolved is different in that there are no nodes, but rather cubes you can place free-form. Cubes can be placed anywhere you can reach and at any angle. While this makes the challenge slightly higher, the puzzle layout is done in a way that you can generally rule out cube placements. Evolved also adds one new cube to the mix, a switch cube. When you place this cube the light goes in one direction. Press your middle mouse button and the switch is activated changing the direction of the light. This was a clever mechanic that allowed for you to remotely trigger switches to activate platforms or deactivate barrier walls. The last puzzle in each path used them for a multiple solution puzzle to open two sets of doors in sequence. There are three sets of puzzles - grey (neutral), orange, and blue. at various points in the game you select a path to take - orange or blue. After five or six pu...
ReThink | Evolved is the sequel to ReThink. Like its predecessor it is a first-person puzzler in the style of Q.U.B.E. While ReThink | Evolved has the same visual design as the first part, the gameplay mechanics are quite different. They have "evolved" and give the player more freedom. And while redirecting lasers with cubes has been done countless times before, ReThink | Evolved manages to find a new twist in that: adding verticality. [strike]However, game still has a few quirks to patch out, like the elevators that constantly activate and drive you mad, or the occasional physics freak-outs.[/strike] EDIT: That stuff was patched. Verdict: ReThink | Evolved is certainly worth playing if you like puzzle games.
Wait, i had a Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600K Video Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Setup and guess what... this game crashed on ME ! NO WAY ! I don't even have a crash on my laptop back then !
This is the first ReThink/ReThink | Evolved game I played, and it got me hooked! I really enjoy the challenge of these puzzles, they were challenging but still very fun. My only complaint is that one of the hidden achievements requires you to replay the entire game if you don't pay attention/miss it. So maybe check out the achievement guide ahead of time if you want to make sure you only play through once!
Really fun puzzle game using mixed mechanics with lasers, cubes, tiles and zero gravity areas. The puzzles offer a good challenge, but nothing too hard to figure out. I am surprised this puzzle series is not more popular. I definitely recommend!
So, I know puzzle games are supposed to be puzzling, but the difficulty ramp in this game is a bit extreme. Literally you go through 3 or 4 trivial rooms then hit a gigantic puzzle room with multiple targets, auto-catapults, and elevators. Not the best design choice, in my opinion. There seems to be an assumption that mechanics and design are familiar, but I don't think that first "real" puzzle has been properly trained for. That said, for the most part the rest of the game is fun, though I've had to look through some walkthroughs as some of the manipulatable targets are simply plain black tiles that blend into the wall graphics. There's a couple rooms that have quite ambiguous puzzles where you can get to partial solutions while your object deployments are completely wrong. I don't really such deeply possible negative paths, but accept them here as most levels are well designed. There's also a strange branching to the levels which I assume means you can play more levels if you...
