TL;DR: If you like this genre, I recommend the game, but just know there’s going to be a steep learning curve, because the game has WAY TOO MANY small systems to learn. They’re all manageable and, once you learn how they work it’s very easy to optimize your zoos so you never have to deal with them, but you’ll probably have to play through the tutorial challenges or read through a lot of documentation before building your own zoo. With that said, I kind of struggle with how to judge this game, because I both utterly adore it but also find it really frustrating. Do I regret buying the game? Absolutely not, because the good moments are genuinely magical in a way that other games can’t be. I have been wanting to play a good zoo builder for most of my life since I lost my physical copy of Zoo Tycoon when I was a kid, and Planet Zoo fills that void better than literally anything else on the market right now can. It’s a really fun game that really excites the part in me that love...

The controls are not intuitive and the tutorial doesn't actually teach you the game mechanics. Sunk an hour in this on easy mode and my brain feels exhausted with trying every combination just to figure out how to build a dang exhibit. Uninstalled and DNF even the tutorial.

Constantly freezes my entire system. A great game but cannot play more than 30 minutes without a crash. My system is not the problem, currently running a 5090, 7800x3D, and 64GB RAM. Please fix this issue.

Can be extremely repetitive after a bit but for the first 20-30 hours is a lot of fun. The decoration system is meh but it can be quite fun to build complex well-decorated habitats for animals. The animal maintainance system is fun and not too big of a worry.

The animals are lovingly modeled, animated, and are so full of charm. Even if all you do with this game is put it in sandbox mode to watch your favorite animal wander around it's totally worth it. The career mode gives adequate challenge to anyone who enjoys management sim games. I put countless hours into Zoo Tycoon and Sim Safari as a child, and this game is a wonderful modern equivalent. For those who are more creative, just designing buildings and exhibits can give you your moneys worth for purchasing this game. My complaint is that pathing and getting things to line up are a pain and if you don't understand how to get it to work/behave you're going to have a very messy looking zoo.

There is absolutely nothing intuitive about the User Interface in this game. Specifically when trying to fill a habitat with the proper plants. I found it extremely frustrating and uninstalled the game after less than hour of gameplay.

Would be fun if they didnt want all your money, relaxing until you cant do anything new because of the thousand dollars worth of dlc

I find this game overly complicated. I just wanted a cozy build a zoo game and I just find myself getting fustrated with paths not doing what I want. Barriers not doing what I want. Buildings not wanting to go where I put them. Having to start with building like 6 buildings before even starting to buy animals. I got this because I loved Zoo tycoon. Theres just so much to learn to even start playing. I don't feel like this is for just casual gaming.
