About the Game
The World Is JUST Enough!Evil Genius 2 is a satirical spy-fi lair builder, where players take control of an Evil Genius and set their plans for world domination in motion. When it feels this good to be bad, the Forces of Justice don’t stand a chance!
Build your own unique evil lair and cover operation, Train a force of criminal minions, Defend your Lair from the Forces of Justice, and Dominate the world with a Doomsday Device in this direct sequel to the 2004 cult classic!
Cruel Constructions!
Every villain needs an island lair, so pick your paradise and put your own sinister stamp on it! Shape the internal structure of your hazardous hideaway to fit your play-style, and construct wonderfully wicked devices for your minions to put to use.
Atrocious Anti-Heroes!
Competence isn’t going to cut it when you’re running an evil operation. As you expand and train your minion workforce, you can create new specialists to help further your evil plans! Need something a little more…intimidating? Recruit powerful Henchmen that complement your play style; every mastermind needs a right hand…or several, in fact!
Dastardly Devices!
The Forces of Justice are annoyingly punctual, so supplement your brute force by researching and developing a series of trap networks! Send those do-gooders spinning with a Pinball Bumper, or put the chomp on them with the Venus Spy-Trap. While one trap is good, more is…evil-er. Combo your traps to banish intruders for good!
Nefarious Plots!
Carry out evil schemes to further your plot to build a Doomsday Device and dominate the world! Sell the British Royal Family, Kidnap the Governor of Maine, and literally BAKE ALASKA. With hundreds of potential objectives, variety is the spice of strife.

its an interesting concept, and the aesthetic is cool, but there are a number of problems. The biggest by far is the fact that 90% of "content" in the game is just sitting around waiting. Wait for minions to train, wait for minions to go on a mission, wait for research, wait for minions to build something. Genuinely feels like the game mostly plays itself and you're really only there to design the lair. Cool, but I feel like the rest of the game is just an annoying afterthought to the lair builder. Also the DLCs are genuinely terrible. None of them do anything particularly different, and just add more things to sit around and wait for. The Polar one (the biggest) adds a terrible heat mechanic that makes your base way more fragile for very little benefit, the in-genious one just adds a bunch of items that are straight upgrades of things that are already in the game (take less space, work faster, etc) so it feels pay-to-win cheaty.
I played the original Evil Genius extensively as a kid, oh how i remember i got to that second island for the first time, got my first uber loot, and defeated Marina Mamba for the first time. This game however tries to bring back some aspects like the updated style, updated mechanics and new quests but you don't get the freedom you did in the original. ALSO IT REALLY FEELS LIKE A MOBILE GAME SADLY. When i heard a new EG was coming out i couldnt believe it, and when this came out i was really hoping that they would keep the mechanics of the last one but just build on what was originally there in the first place. The mechanics and gameplay that everyone loved in the first place. Can you imagine what it would of been like if you had this new and updated style, but with the big map, the world map where regions don't lock after you gain too much heat, more equipment, agents, missions and loot like the old one. It has changed too much and just feels like i might as well play it on my phon...
i want to like this game, i really do. i loved the original, the aesthetic is there, and development seemed promising. and then i finally got to the gameplay. my god, i cannot stress how utterly boring it is. perhaps it is how i play, but it is just so slow to do anything, not helped that you can only do one mission storyline at a time, one research at a time, one major event at a time. there is little to do between those things besides expanding your base (past a certain point, this is essentially just busywork), fighting off agents that only ever go through your casino because most of them are regular investigators and barely any special agents show up if you build it right, or just sending minions off to do random missions. a few things off the top of my head as to why i dislike this game: agents are no longer visually distinct with what region they're from, which is a total shame; specialized agents like rogues or saboteurs barely show up, and soldiers are basically a minor nuis...
Unfortunately, just another attempt to cash in on nostalgia with a poor product. Biggest complaint is that the side stories can't be restarted or abandoned. If anything goes wrong, you're locked in. Even worse, sometimes the main story is locked behind the side story which ... The game doesn't really explain much to you, and even teaches you bad habits in the tutorial.
Lacks depths and has some pacing issues. It's fine for $4 on sale, but it also desperately needed mod support and a major rework of certain mechanics.
I really want to like this game. Building an evil lair with the whole cartoony art style is super fun and when you first play with the systems, they all seem super fun and in-depth. I found the different geniuses really cool as well (Ivan for the win). However, the more time you spend with the game the more frustrating it gets. I understand that the stereotype is that minions are stupid, but they kicked it up a notch and the minions are retarded asf. They'll do one thing, then randomly do another halfway across the base, then die fistfighting some random dude, and you're back at ground zero (not to mention a pitifully low minion cap). If there was just a little more sophistication in this system (choosing which minions do what), it would go a long way. And that's not even mentioning the fatal flaw: one objective at a time. This holds the game back in so many ways I can't fit it into this review, but you basically do the same rinse and repeat mission (mixed with waiting for your minion...

My Two Cent Review There aren't enough games were you play as the villain of the story especially an Austin 90's evil genius style game. I did play the original years and have fond memories of it. Never finished just like I'll probably never finish this game due to the fact it's a podcast game where you will be sitting around most of the time waiting for s h i t to get done in the background. You send your henchmen on missions you don't get to see and hope for the best they don't bring eve...
I've tried to review this ignoring my love for EG1, and treat it as a game in it's own right. I think the biggest problem for me with this game, is it's an idle game that you can't idle. So much of it is just... waiting. Agents come in waves every so often, you deal with them then you wait. You need to do research to progress. So you wait for that to finish. You can only do one mission on the world stage in each area at a time. So you wait. I spent most of the game on fast forward mode, with my vaults full and my base secure. You're only allowed to do one side objective at a time, so that just becomes a matter of queuing them up and doing them one at a time. You could probably finish the game in a few hours if you were able to do more side objectives at once. I do want to try and say some good things too - I really like the way they've give the EG a bit more personality and interaction, and kept some of the silliness of the original. But this would have done so much better ...
