About This Game

Special Edition

The Deluxe Edition includes the official digital soundtrack of the game, composed by Aethek & Lustmord, and a 192-page digital artbook including a massive amount of exclusive artwork and research designs from the nightmarish universe of Scorn.

About the Game

Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.

It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself.

Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.

GAMEPLAY FEATURES

COHESIVE "LIVED-IN" WORLD
Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you’re in. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels.

FULL BODY AWARENESS
Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls, etc.

INVENTORY AND AMMO MANAGEMENT
Your loadout is defined and limited. This plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.

You are meat. You will be processed and fed, then shit out, and fed again to the eternal machine that is the ever expanding palette of the north american diet. 11/10, wish it was just a little bit longer

The puzzles in this game are great, don't get me wrong. I love a good challenge. But this shit is so fucking hard for NO reason. They barely ever give you any ammo or health, and then expect you to defeat 5 fucking monsters that run at you. Half the times I go to reload, it just DOESN'T WORK. And I often find myself having to quit to main menu and reload just to use an elevator because the game is that buggy. This is a horrible game, and I would not recommend it to anyone. edit: I was so angry when I wrote this. I know it is supposed to be hard. Lol. I just finished this game and I did really enjoy it besides the time I was really mad.

It's visually stunning, but the riddles are mostly more annoying than pleasantly challenging. Lots of running around and tedious puzzles sprinkled in with rudimentary combat. Is it an adventure game? A shooter? A pzzle game? Narrative? It cannot decide. I was quite hyped but stopped playing after a few hours of running back and forth through empty corridors. So much backtracking!

I saw this game's trailer a super long time ago, and was in love with the HR Giger aesthetic it had going for it. Because of the super mixed reviews, I waited for a $10 sale to pick it up. Without spoiling much, I'll try and list some pro's and con's to see if this game is going to be for you. PROS: >Very immersive, minimal HUD elements to distract you and being able to check your health reserves and ammo by just looking down at your character model was a really great choice. >The environment design...wow. Just wow. This place really looks and feels like hell (in a good way). Biomechanical, living structures and lovecraftian landscapes all over. Not something you see represented in games often and I think they knocked it out of the park aesthetically. >Gunplay feels nice, even the reload animations are visceral. Combat not so much, but I'll talk about that in cons. >Completely silent story? No dialogue at all? I'm here for that. All-environmental storytelling and leaving a ton o...

I'm going to cautiously recommend this. Game is absolutely gorgeous. The design might not appeal to everyone, but even if it doesn't, you would be hard-pressed to say it's objectively bad looking. You truly feel immersed in a completely alien environment. The body horror is absolutely novel in this world. The gameplay consists primarily of walking and puzzle-solving. Puzzles are usually some variant of going here, then there, place this here, and turn these things there. But there is combat as well and boy that is some rough combat. Whoever thought of a half-melee/half-ranged weapon that does both terribly, while ALSO needing to cool down after two shots, deserves an award for how novel a shit design it is. This is the first and only weapon you get for a good bit. Eventually you'll find more traditional weapons that do better damage and don't require the player to be in spitting distance of 360-noscope acid spitting monsters, but by that point you'll have learned to not even engage ...

6/10 I can only really recommend it for ~$10 or less. I beat it in 4 hours and I feel like I took it really slowly. The art direction is fantastic, which I think is the draw for most with this game. I've been a fan of Zdzislaw Beksinski for decades and this game obviously pulls inspiration from his work and HR Giger's. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot else going for it. There is no story, but the mystery of the world and the things you do in it has some satisfaction to offer. You mostly just walk around, look at bizarre things and solve some puzzles. The puzzles were fine. I think the first one isn't the most welcoming to new players because it throws too many red herrings at you, which is exacerbated by the slow run speed as you explore and inevitably have to retrace your steps. There are some weapons, but you barely use them, and honestly.. the less you have to use them the better, because the combat kind of sucks. When I'd see an enemy I'd usually just run away until it crawls ...

Visually stunning, but gameplay wise not so. The game is one big puzzle and you're given no hints on how to progress in the game. It's all just guess work if you don't want to watch a tutorial on the whole game. Not my thing

I genuinely hate this game. For $10, it's worth it in the sense that it's cheaper than a movie, but that's about it. The combat is frustrating to say the lease, the artwork is mostly interesting but at times looks like the concept art of a 14 year old's wet dreams, and the game itself seems to have been made by artists who've never actually played a video game. This isn't so much of a video game as it is a virtual tour of an art book. Would have been much happier skipping this title and watching a YouTube playthrough, instead.

I 100% recommend this game. I almost didn't play it because players seem so split on whether or not it's good. But I saw it on sale for $10, so I finally decided to dive in (3 years later, sadly). As most have stated, this game isn't for everyone. I hate saying that, because most people see it and think "risk" (like I did) and either put off playing it or never play it at all. But the truth is, it's worth the risk, because if the game resonates with you, it hits hard. Throughout the entire game, I wanted to see more, know more about this world I was in. This game is special in that it doesn't tell you anything, which means you have to use environmental clues, as well as your imagination. What is my purpose here? What happened to this place? Where am I? Unlike most games that leave you to imagine nothing because it's all explained to you, this game leaves room for plenty of imagination, and I love that about it. But when I say this game doesn't tell you anything, I mean it. It doesn'...

Terrible game due to boredom. I have an extremely high tolerance for boredom actually, and it's pretty impossible to get bored when gaming, however this was a first... Nice textures... but the game starts with a childish mini game and then becomes a walking sim for 30mins. Conclusion: Doom but with no monsters zzz
