Midnight Quest

I stumbled upon this little gem of a point-and-click adventure while trawling through the New Releases, and was compelled to pick it up based off the fact it was created by a solo developer with honest to goodness love and care - these days a rarity on Steam. The simple cartoon graphics are charming and expressive, and the game's late night atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, in spite of some pretty harrowing things happening along the player's path. The sounds and music aren't memorable, and are few and far between, but the little gibberish noises characters communicate with are a nice touch. There is no dialogue or language of any kind outside of main menu and a couple of tutorial popups. This is both, the game's strength and weakness, as sometimes an item or an environmental object wouldn't look like anything instantly recognizable. Amazing short puzzle game! Definitely worth the money. Some parts are a little difficult but rewarding. If you just want to relax for a few hours clicking around some interesting puzzles I would definitely suggest this! On a side note I think it reached the highest frames per second I have ever seen, 2400!

Great little game. The puzzles weren't challenging, but they were still enjoyable. Pretty fun game and a worthy addition to the collection of every fan of point and click adventure games! Overall it was an okay game that I enjoyed purely for the puzzles, as well as the nice graphics and animations. The puzzles were good and felt well-balanced for the most part which was nice (except for one criticism mentioned below). The entire game felt empty of all the things that make a point and click game exciting to play. There was an initial premise of a story (which was very brief) and then there's no further plot development until you accomplish your primary goal and subsequently finish the game. The sound was severely lacking in most of the game, with certain areas having no background music and a handful of sound effects being used. There's no dialog (using thought bubbles similar to Machinarium) but it doesn't work here since it makes the game feel even emptier. All the puzzles are fairly logical but also nonsensical in terms of the whole game feeling like it uses the rube goldberg methodology of accomplishing tasks to complete your primary goal. It's cute, but I'd only give it 3 out of 5 stars. There's more walking than necessary, and the animations (picking up an item or walking) are painfully slow. If the walking distance was about 2/3 of what it is now, and speed was 2-3 times faster, I think this would be 5/5.

A wonderful experience, albeit a short one (4-6 hours on average, I'd estimate). The puzzles can be a bit challenging, but they're mostly logical and sensible, so you'll not have to concern yourself with solutions being overly esoteric or nonsensical. Certainly worth a purchase, especially at such a low price. One of the best gaming purchases I've made thus far in 2018.

Really liked this little game! Short but worth the price, especially on sale. Not overly challenging and the end of the game was very satisfying. I will look forward to more games by this developer.

Midnight Quest is a fun point and click adventure that has you solving puzzles in an effort to repair a time machine and save the scientist and robot in a lab. Now as someone who isn't terribly bright, I found the puzzles to be just challenging enough to make me think but not so difficult as to beat my head against the wall. The art style gives me a very Scribblenauts kind of vibe. But at times some of the items are slightly difficult to tell exactly what they are and with no text descriptions, you may have a slight bit of trouble initially identifying them. But nothing too bad. This is an easy recommend because it's pretty cheap and moreso, it's fun if you're into point and click games. So give it a shot!
