Palacevania, Dissonance of the Evening With lovely tracks, such as Crimson Sweat Werewolf Slayer Ending Timejob Intro Staccato Populated Palace A Full Book Stomach of Ice Unholy Family Tree In all seriousness, this game really does feel like a spiritual successor for Castlevania Symphony of the Night. It improves on almost all aspects, having a banger soundtrack, it feels great to control, it looks fantastic, has plenty of secrets, a ton of items, and just does everything great in general. However, just be aware of the fact that it is pretty easy to get lost, and if you eventually look up a guide on how to continue, you will run into inevitable spoilers. If you liked Symphony of the Night, this one is a must-have.

Addictingly tight and satisfying gameplay alongside a rich new story in the gothic dark fantasy style of Koji Igarashi, the celebrated godfather of "Igavania" games.
Story cut scenes and NPC interactions fully voice acted by a star-studded cast, including actors like David Hayter, Ray Chase and Erica Lindbeck to name just a few. (Seriously, we have a lot of voice acting star power in this game, it's kinda nuts...)
Three playable characters, two of which have yet to be revealed...
Literally a metric ton of weapons and spells, which you can upgrade, level up and visually customize.
Beautiful 2.5D graphics: 3D models crafted with a lot of love and care on a 2D game environment. That means lots of cool tricks that "regular" 2D can't do...

Context: I'm a huge Metroidvania fan but I've never played Castlevania (nor Metroid) before. I was first introduced to the genre by Hollow Knight, Ender Lilies, Death's Door and other more modern - and more polished - games. I tried so hard to enjoy it that I even made a post on Reddit asking for advices from more experienced players. I guess that the fact that I first played newer games made me used to combat and overall gameplay more "fluid", such as being able to attack AND walk simultaneously, dashing through, jumping over, and so on, a gameplay and combat with overall more action and fast-paced. Having to stay still so close to the enemy to attack and not being able to dodge properly or to use a potion as a quick action is crazy, it breaks the fluidity of the combat, because you see the attack or the mob coming towards you and your only option is to... walk (lol), your hitbox is inches from them. I had a terrible time defeating the very first boss and on my very first death on th...
Hands down my favorite Igavania. The constant acquisition of new abilities and the sane droprates that makes farming for them worth it makes the game much more enjoyable to go through. GOATed soundtrack too.
As someone that grew up playing Symphony of the Night on the PS1 and loved it. I did not like this game. I tried time and time to get into it and I didn't like the game feel, story, or the characters. It had all the necessary ingredients to be a successor for SotN but I feel like it didn't hit the mark, its missing that special something that made it good. The special sauce of you will. I'll do my best to explain it all. 1. Gameplay: So the first thing I noticed is how less "snappy" it is compared to SotN. Clunky would be the word to describe it. And I get it, the graphics are significantly better, it isn't pixels, so it needs to smooth out to meet it. But it does come at the cost of the snappy feeling I liked about the previous Castlevania games. I do like how you can have different weapons to attack but again it doesn't feel very good to aim, press, or hit enemies with. This travels with you the entire game pretty much this clunky movement / attack motions. 2. Story: Its okay. Bu...
Bloodstained is, hands down, my favorite metroidvania to date — even more than Afterimage, which I also loved. It nails that classic sense of adventure, exploration and progression: unlocking new skills that constantly open fresh paths and make returning to old areas an absolute joy. The game has that addictive loop of discovery that keeps you coming back for “just one more run.” But what really sets it apart is the sheer variety of equipment and customization. You can experiment endlessly with different weapons, gear, and shards — and it always feels viable. No matter your playstyle, Bloodstained offers you the tools to make it work. That level of freedom and replayability is rare, and it kept me engaged for countless hours. If you’re a fan of metroidvanias (or simply curious about the genre), Bloodstained is a masterpiece. It delivers challenge, creativity, and endless experimentation — all wrapped up in a world that feels alive and rewarding at every step.
You Remember that feeling when play castlevania ?? the mystery, the hype you have in your brain but something inside you said.. "hmm.. something missing...", well you found the missing in this game, more weapon to use with the technique to master, change your own appearance, so much fun thing to unlock, from the journal, familiar and this satisfying feeling when you get a new shard. the BGM itself make me feels good when playing the game bring more atmosphere to my ear, and from my eye.. goodness what an amazing visual, the effect the monster detail.. just priceless, so there is some things that bothered me though, i just hope there is a sprint button, if you play in normal mode it feels like this game is too easy, from my opinion this is the best game to start if you want to play metrovania genre game but if you ever play other before just play the normal first and replay it for the best experience
Fun game. It's like Castlevania. Early game starts out slow but the more weapons, abilities, shards, and gear you acquire the better and faster it gets. Levelling your gear takes time, it's a lot of grinding, but it's not necessary. You can either do minimal grinding and have challenging fights, or do lots of grinding and stomp the enemy. Story is good enough, not outstanding, but it works, I like it. Graphics are very good, everything looks so good, Music was very nice, I like the main theme. The best part is definitely all the gear, and all the secrets. There's a bunch of weapon types in this game, each have their own peculiarities and techniques, so most people develop their favorite ones. There's also a bunch of secrets hidden throughout the game. There's simple stuff like breakable walls, and there's more interesting things that I won't spoil here, but are super cool to discover. The only big complaints I have are regarding two points in the game where players can get stuck ...
Bloodstained is a solid metroidvania. I feel it has a lot going for it that makes it a really appealing title on the surface. The visuals look fantastic with great sound design. The callbacks to classic castlevania games as well as references to other popular games adds a little fun and variety throughout the playthrough. There are tons of different playstyles and builds you can choose between allowing for a lot of replayability as well as experimentation throughout your playthrough. Albeit there are a few flaws with the game. Some areas leave you completely in the dark wondering how to progress (traversing water the first time, progressing the fight with gebel, etc.). The mobility of the game feels really stiff and unfun making backtracking more of a chore and makes the fights feel a bit stiff and janky. Lastly the voice acting is a mixed bag. Some of it is fantastic while other parts are really cheesy. While these flaws do hinder the experience they are mostly minor gripes that are e...
Very complete metroidvania game. Controls feel a little janky sometimes, almost like you were playing an old game, but since this basically castlevania 2.0 I think this is intentional. I miss an option to strike upwards (didn't see any so far) Overall a really fun game, I like spending hours exploring and figuring all the extra stuff you can do around
Castlevania:SOTN reborn. A true masterpiece.
