You are playing for an extraterrestrial race that has just become ready to conquer outer space.
Whole story begins with the fact that you are going to destroy a comet that threatens your planet. An unforeseen event happened that dragged you into the midst of the battles. But everything may not be what it seems.

Every element in the game was made with individual approach, polished to the smallest detail.
Excellent graphics drawing, visual effects, music and sound effects - all this is perfectly harmonized in its special style and atmosphere of the game.

This shmup reminds me of a game i used to play when i was a lot younger, a game called "Raptor - Call of the shadows". Complete missions, get new weapons and gear, repeat until finish. It had a lot of charm to it. Sadly Stellatum lacks most of that charm. By all means it's not a bad game. I've played much worse in all respects. It visually looks appealing and has gameplay that's fun from time to time but the moment you step out of the tutorial you're stuck with pretty lackluster weapons that take quite a while to kill things, especially bosses. It's like you're given a entire toolbox for 5 seconds then you're stuck with a spanner right after. The pace of the game just crashes to a halt because of it. The stages are also rather unvaried with your choice of space, space or more space. Sometimes the game throws in asteroids or small space stations of sorts but it's just dull to look at. At least the enemy ships are decent but they are not very threatening. I mean they shoot alot of bul...

Reading about customisation and weapon choices reminded me about Jets'n'Guns, my absolute favourite in that particular genre. So I took it, installed it, launched it with big hopes to get a lot of fun. And what did I get? -background and actual asteroids hardly differ in terms of texture -enemies don't really care about those asteroids and can both move and shoot through them -hitboxes on projectiles and small enemies feel a bit off -"customisation" starts you with no guns, every mission gives you about 2 blueprints that require craft -said craft works on random loot, so after about 10 missions I had 3 resources over the top and 2 resources at 0, so I could not craft any guns to switch with the first one -healthbars on both you and enemies may not represent actual HP If that game was in EA - I could tolerate that kind of unfinished game, but it is released, so no pity and no remorse about giving a negative review.

I just want to give a positive review for a simple fact that: Dev reads the reviews and pays attention to every comment that is honest. The updates are "real updates" and this game move towards excellence step by step. And an other fact: Honest and negative reviews/comments contribute more... ...STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE, NOT PERFECTION...

Has potential to be a good game, but it feels like someone started making a game and then just stopped working on it half way through.

I actually do recommend Stellatum, but it comes with an awfully long list of qualifiers to that and a lot of issues, so this is marked not recommended for those who are looking for the problems with the game as there may very well be dealbreakers in here for you. I could not in good conscience recommend it to just anyone who likes space shooters. If you don't mind the things I'm about to mention though, then I can fully recommend it. So first off, other negative reviews have stated that the component parts you need to craft items are really random. This is true, you will often be missing key pieces. As you get into later levels, more pieces drop, but more are needed, so this doesn't help much. Fortunately, there is also a universal item drop that every enemy drops which lets you craft any component part you need. This isn't mentioned anywhere in the tutorial and it's not especially obvious on the crafting screen you can do this, but it means playing through each level once will typica...

Honestly, I am not certain why there are negative reviews. The game is a blast. As with most shmups, it's repetitive by design, and your tolerance toward the genre will dictate how long you can take in one session. The good part is that each mission does not take that long, which makes the game perfect for on-and-off playing when you just want some midless destruction. The crafting system is a nice addition. You will lack components to create all new designs by clearing each mission just once, which promotes replaying of previous ones (with different equipment loadout). This allows testing and familiarizing yourself with a new loadout without running face-first into more difficult enemy waves. I can understand why some might consider the need for replaying older missions as "grinding" (if you absolutely need to craft everything possible), but I can't honestly say it's any different from the rest of the game. Ultimately, it's a very pretty call back to simpler games of the arcade era...
Space Gem with Mixed Reviews
Gameplay : You are dropped on a map and you destroy whatever you can (you don't have to destroy everything to get 3 stars or medals like many games like this one) while keeping an eye on Overheating weapons, shield and life until the Mother ship at the end go back to get you, very simple. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1574248454 Graphics : Very well polished Space Ship's (yours and enemies) good space background and nice space station's too. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1574248516 Ost : In this type of games you don't need good music, only good weapons sound effect's and yes they are good. Customizations : Yes many, you can construct (and deconstruct) many weapon's, shield's, generator's, you can even construct the pieces you needed for the blueprint's of the weapon's/shield's etc. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1574248299 Ultra...

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (Poor, very repetitive little game) ============ Review: I can't find words for this. No.. just No. Not like this. Okay, the game looks good and has good ideas. I like the ship customization system. So I thought this would be a nice little game to play with a friend locally, while drinking beer etc. But the controls for Gamepads are so crappy it's pretty much unplayable for me. Like, slow moving cursor aiming in a SHMUP game!? Especially when you've had a few beers, REALLY? Maybe I'm just old or something but HELL NO. This combination does not work, at all. Yeah, the game works alright if you play it with keyboard and mouse. But that's not what I want. This game would have been so much better if it worked like a traditional SHMUP game, like Raptor that has been mentioned in here. It would much better as a two-player game then, just flying there shooting forward breaking things and upgrading your ships. But no.. not like this. It's also very grindy, ...

yes, there a lot of space shooter games in steam, but this one is especial, and i will do my best to explain why.
graphics is beautiful
yes, first of all its very beautiful. backgrounds you play on deserve to be a wallpaper on your computer or mobile; your ship is modular and consists of thought over parts, enemies health is shown in clear but minimal dots - everything from user interface to the last pixel you see is designed properly and thouroughly.
it offers more
usually in a game of space fighting genre all you can get is battleground: in this game you are getting a hangar where you do upgrades, animations that tell a story, different locations, overall progress map, and even a tutorial! next, its written game has whole 80 different levels, though i am not sure you might really need whole 80 )))
gameplay
speaking honestly, i've stuck on mission 4, but i may have played too lazily :)) first thing i want to admit this game offers you more playing spac...

I love shmup games and completed several hard games. I understand my fellow gamers' frustration and agree with the Mixed user rating for Stellatum. Although I am biased towards a positive review for indie games, this game has serious issues that indicate it wasn't tested & balanced properly by the developers. This game could have much higher ratings if the difficulty and progression were properly balanced, which seems to be a common issue with these devs' games (such as their "I, AI" that I recently completed after it was "rebalanced"). I would only recommend getting Stellatum (especially while on sale) if you love space shmups with great visuals and don't mind grinding hard to get only marginally better upgrades. I have just finished Mission 50 in this game's campaign mode (completed most of the side missions and constructed all blueprints). The grind was a bit too much and playing this did not feel fun/rewarding but I finally finished it since I am a bit of a stubborn completionist...
