Updating the review. The game looks fun. At this time the development seems to have started again. If this continues I will re rate this. I gave it a thumbs down initially because the devs said the game was not going to be finished. Until I see that they really are committed to finishing this, I will keep the thumbs down.

alchemage is a terraria clone (not meant in a derogative way, just to make things easier), but sadly development had to stop, though there were a few smaller fixes after that, of bugs I reported after I started playing. I still recommend it if you're looking for similar gameplay in a different setting, it has great graphics and music, weather effects, zoom in/out, various settings (volume sliders, autosave interval, etc.), a map editor, multiplayer, creative mode, and so on. world generation is seed-based, so worlds can be easily recreated. playing on easy means no corpse runs when you die, nor inventory loss, and I found it a lot more relaxing than terraria for some reason, even though I died similar deaths here at similar intervals, though respawning here is a lot faster, which definitely lessens frustration. there's not that much content (not compared to terraria, which would be foolish, but in general), but still more than I expected. there's a decent amount of mob ...

First, a thanks to [57th] Stilgar, who pointed this game out to me. This title was overlooked by most of the community because the foreign company who made the title accidentally listed this in the wrong section and took my advice and changed it so many can now view its features. Had it not been for [57th] Stilgar, this title most likely would have died before getting off the ground. Id rather not waste space describing what an Early Access title is. Look at my other reviews if you’re not sure. I only give bad reviews for abandonment, scamming – Selling a product, but charging more to use features advertised as coming with it and selling a title as complete when it is not even close to being completed. This title falls under none of these criteria. For those who bought or are buying, or considering this game, until a fix is in, when you load the game up each time, it will be in Japanese. Click the gear on the right, then look in the menu on the middle right side...

For some reasons game is moved out of early access without an announcement or anything. + Terraria-like clone: create character, create world, explore, kill, gather, craft, build, die; + Smooth animations; - A lot of micromanagement: small inventory, small chests, lots of drops; - Too dim palette: my eyes are getting tired very quickly; - It's hard to distinguish background walls from solid blocks; - Balance: some enemies are too hard and can spawning anywhere (charger on a lame, ghost what summons lots of skeletons, etc); - Lack of in-game help: tooltips are pure cosmetic, tutorial is too basic; - Quests don't give directions or hints; - Combat is not polished: huge hitboxes, some enemies are way to hard to dodge or defend against. Overall game is of a solid beta quality. It just need more time to develop and polish, which seems to be a real problem here. Buy at your own risk, no guarantees. Non-existent player base is a proof.

It's a good start - but that's it. I got through the first 4-5 hours and was left scratching my head wondering if there was some sort of end-game or other unique biome I hadn't found. The answer is No - it's a fun game for the limited amount of content present, but incomplete at the very least.

I was a little iffy about the whole game but it was actually a fun game to play. I would say there isn't much content to begin with but if you just want to play a game at the end of the day to relax in. I would highly recommend this game. The game is very similar to Terraria. The game does have (i believe) multiplayer (or it might be just me since there's a high chance a lot of people might not have bought the game) and a whole line up of quest that can keep you engaged for hours but do understand, that this game is not fully developed. Most of the content is in English, however to read some of the stuff that is in the quest guide or some book. You will have to know how to read Chinese. (And sadly, it is not one of the languages I know). The game does have bugs such as item description being in the way of knowing what materials you need to craft it and magic missing at point blank range, but all over these can be easily fixed if you give the developers a chance to correct them. The gam...

This is a really lovely little game. It's clearly early access, so I was gutted to see that it's been in EA since 2017. A good game idea like this, combined with a talented developer which is clear straight away, counts for nothing once development loses momentum. I'd love to believe that this can become the game the dev had in mind, but I think building momentum again is going to be a challenge and it may be better for the dev to start a new project. However I would recommend this game for the price, and look forward to seeing the dev put his talents to good use with the capital made from the sale of this one.

If you are a game collector or if you don't mind paying just to try a game then buy Alchemage since it's actually somewhat interesting ! Otherwise then rather than buying Alchemage then people ought to buy Terraria or Crea , or if they want something more quaint then Starbound or Aground... Don't get me wrong ! , Alchemage actually have something to offer in it's own way, in as much as it is much better than e.g Samphi , an abandoned game of which it reminds me. But interface is far too 'clunky' (in lack of better words) and there are far too many annoyances that makes the game a frustrating experience. Like the following : The game will allow you to assign keys that it will not respond to (numeric KB + - ) and more keys on keyboard can not be used to assign. Character movement in some cases is 'clunky' , difficult or even impossible , e.g. getting out of water when attacked by Zombie in water. Combat becomes a matter of synchonization (attack must be synchronized to be able ...

beat boss at the top of mountain he dropped a spell and get right back up and didn't die. saved back at base... and now save wont load past 62 percent. well game was short but it was fun. The inability to replay and the loading bug make this a non recommend from me. That and the never dying boss and bugged story that doesn't update.
