About This Game

As the enigmatic Hitman, you must use stealth and tactical problem solving to enter, execute and exit your assignment with minimum attention and maximum effectiveness. For a price, you have access to the most devious devices, but how you use them will determine if you retire as a millionaire or get permanently retired.

The Hitman is the world's most accomplished and wealthy assassin; however, he is plagued by a troubling past of deception and genetic butchery. The ingenious story will evolve over five chapters of heart-stopping action. Remember, the world of contract hits rewards a quick intellect more than a quick trigger finger.

This game is downright incomprehensible to play at times. Several levels are either nigh-impossible for you to beat without trial and error or just flat-out tedious to get through. It COULD be great, but its age shows through a lot more than it should.

Hitman: Codename 47 stands as the seminal entry in the now-iconic Hitman series, delivering a unique blend of stealth, strategy, and sandbox-style assassination that laid the foundation for a beloved franchise. Released back in 2000, it introduced players to Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin whose cold precision and resourcefulness became the heart of the experience. Despite its age, the game retains a raw charm and ambitious design that still appeals to fans of methodical gameplay and emergent storytelling, though it understandably carries some rough edges typical of early 3D stealth titles. The core gameplay revolves around carefully planning and executing assassinations in sprawling, open-ended levels that encourage creativity and experimentation. Players are given the freedom to approach targets from countless angles—whether through disguises, environmental kills, or the classic sniper rifle shot from afar. Unlike many stealth games of its era, Codename 47 emphasizes p...

Product of it's time. Without patches there's no widescreen or fps lock. The shooting is very strange as hit patterns are seemingly random. There are hints here and there pointing to the franchises future design in some missions, but are implemented far to restrictedly in this game. A lot of hard fail points in many missions, wonky stealth with no detection indication, extremely low hitpoints (even with armour 47 drops in seconds once a shootout starts), but even still almost a third of the game expects you to go in shooting. A mostly negative experience, see no reason really to go back to it, unless for nostalgia for the series. fuck the colombia missions
This is the worst game i have ever played.
And i mean that, because this game, despite having a fairly solid budget and development team for its time, fails at nearly EVERYTHING it's trying to do, and it sure as hell disappoints wherever it can. Even for the year 2000, some of the decisions behind this game are incomprehensibly bad. The tutorial of the game teaches you about HALF of the things you'll use while playing, therefore you'll eventually end up in a scenario where you have no clue on how to progress because of something the tutorial forgot to mention. For example, in the fish restaurant mission, i couldn't figure out how to drop an item, only to later find out through a walkthrough that there's a dedicated "drop item" button (There's a few instances where the objective isn't clear at all and oh boy.. you'll have to look up a walkthrough multiple times for this game unless you're a total masochist). Infact, there are a few moments in the game where you'll most like...
Aged like milk
Need tweak to play on newer devices, some mission is literal walking sim, my last straw was mission #8: bomb so powerful every time detonating it crash the whole game Got from sale bundle but still felt like I was robbed, subdued and get my clothes stolen. But honestly, it got a few laugh out of me, would recommend if the graphic optimization is not literal dogwater

I would not recommend to other players because of its age. If you are wanting to play for historical/nostalgic reasons then sure. Otherwise I think I would leave this one alone.

Awful game to try and get running properly. Good luck with trying to fiddle with the settings as it's basically impossible to get it to run maxed out.

Hitman: Codename 47 This is a game from 2000, i wanted to play all the hitman games, so this is the one i decided to start with, and boy oh boy, it does not hold up well whatsoever, you start with absolutely terrible controls of walking with numpad, walking to the left and turning left are binded to a different key. Same with running and walking, completely different key for both. I completed the tutorial which was fine enough, what i liked was the ragdoll mechanics, and the garote wire mechanics, i enjoyed that instead of it being just a prompt, you actually ready your garote wire and walk around with it ready, i wish WoA did that. However the first mission was already absolutely horrible, and in 2025 near unplayable, unless you are blinded by nostalgia. You are put in Hongkong to assasinate your target, but the whole city is just extremely empty, ugly and soulless, i understand that it is old game, but it just looks terrible. It plays even worse, and without a guide which i...
