About This Game

Enter the realm of a retired assassin, forced back into action by treason. You may be a hired killer but you still have a sense of loyalty and justice. Visit the dark recesses of a world corrupted by crime, greed, degradation and dishonor. And a past that catches up with you.

Trust no one - if the price is right, the finger of your most trusted ally will be on the trigger. Your targets may hide in the most remote areas of the planet, but their destruction is never prevented - only postponed.

Learn your trade - master your tools - overcome your obstacles - outsmart your enemies - eliminate your targets. Remember: rash decisions bleed consequences. Know when to strike instantly, know when to take your time. Chance favors the prepared. Failure is not an option.

  • Pick up contracts in exotic locations around the globe: Sicily, St. Petersburg, Japan, Malaysia, and India.

  • Operate in a non-linear world where the outcome of your actions and proficiency as a hitman are measured on a balance between stealth and aggression.

  • Stalk and eliminate your targets up close and personal, in either 1st or 3rd person perspectives.

  • Execute your assignments with a diverse arsenal of equipment, from armor-piercing sniper rifles and explosives to chloroform and poison darts.

  • Acquire and carry weapons and tools from mission to mission through an enhanced inventory and save-game system.

  • Original soundtrack composed by Jesper Kyd and performed by The Budapest Symphony Orchestra.

Unplayable. Took over 5 minutes to get to the start screen. Apparently, and I don't know if this makes sense, but this game would only load when it wasn't being "watched" kind of like that game in Squid Game. I had to minimize the game several times to get it to do anything. When I finally got to the start screen and loaded into the game, I found that the controls for walking didn't do anything.. I could do almost everything else; I could look up and down, change the camera angle, I could even open the freaking map. But I could NOT walk.. Pausing also didn't work consistently. But then I minimized the game.. and when I came back, I found 47 doing all kinds of weird shit like crouching like he's ABOUT to start walking. It was like the game in Squid Game where he will only move if I'm not watching (i.e; if the game is minimized). So weird.

This game is basically begging for a refund... There’s a version of this review that could just stop at one line: "This game barely runs in 2025, do not buy it." But let’s dig in, because what I went through with this port is worth warning you about. First off, it’s almost impossible to start playing this game on a modern PC. I spent nearly 20 minutes just trying to get it to launch. This was not a one-off bug. The recent Steam reviews are full of the same complaints. The only way I got it working was by downloading a third-party file, manually dropping it into the directory, and forcing a resolution change in the code. If that already sounds like too much work for a $12.49 game (even on sale for $1.24), you can stop reading here. Once I got past the technical mess, the actual gameplay has not aged well. Levels feel empty and confusing. Doors constantly close behind you, making navigation more annoying than tense. Stealth mechanics are clunky, aiming feels rough, and enemies r...

Silent Assassin has, in my opinion, the best music of all the games in the Hitman series, representing the best of Jesper Kyd, being more operatic and orchestral and less techno than both Codename: 47 and Contracts, while being less action-oriented than Blood Money. This is combined with both a great story and plot, as well as the best characterisation of 47 that I've seen from any of the other games in the entire series. The plot is far less contrived than the story of the World of Assassination trilogy and has 47 engaged with much more believable missions, filled with the tension, urgency and paranoia expected of real assassination attempts, not with the comedic quipping of the new trilogy. 47 often provides interesting monologues at the beginning of some missions and has proper conversations with Diana, far from being austere in his dialogue. The briefings from Diana, combined with the target information, are something sorely missed in later titles and they bring a great sense of na...

Unplayable. You can somewhat get it to work if you search on the internet and download additional files. Otherwise you get greeted with a gray screen when you hit play. Even you can still somehow manage to load the first level, you still can't play the game as movement is non existent. It's a shame because I really loved this game.

The gameplay, map, graphics and everything are out of date. It's not really a bad game, the soundtrack is good, but the game's age is really detrimental to the experience

HOW IS IT HITMAN 1 WORKS JUST FINE ON STEAM AND HITMAN 2 STRUGGLES TO LOAD?!?!?! It's a shame because Hitman 2 Silent Assassin was the first game that introduced me to this series and it's the one I have the most memories of playing through "Professional" challenge and trying to obtain "silent assassin" ratings for each level. I understand the graphic conversion changes are a major cause, but Steam should really consider fixing that ASAP in 2025 to work on more advanced computers, otherwise no one else may be able to enjoy the entire franchises story line without having to jump through hoops (and no, I don't want to watch someone else play it on YouTube). I got the whole series through 5 (before world of assassination) for about $3, but still, I bought this mainly so I can retry all the HM2 challenges again. Hope they fix it soon.

Probably my favourite out of them all. Tough as nails but this is where the series started getting it's identity. To get it to work on modern systems you literally just need the widescreen fix from nexus mods
