The first game of the Edgar Allen Poe Dark Tales series that is actually pretty good. The others weren't awful and they were playable, but they didn't have maps, didn't have normal HO puzzles, and very few minigames. This game has great HO puzzles, fun minigames, and a map with fast travel (all things every casual game MUST have to be a success). Unfortunately, the voice actors are still horrendous and their awfulness is particularly egregious in this game because Poe himself makes an appearance in the game and reads from some of his work (including The Raven). The "actor" who plays him reads it as though he's narrating Monday Night Football. He has this dumb@ss cadence to his voice that is so offensive to the ear, I had to turn the volume down and just read what was being said. We are talking about one of the greatest American writers and the guy voicing him behaves as though he thinks Poe is a Backstreet Boy. Nonetheless, this is a decent game.

Very good hidden object game. There were unusual mini-games and unusual hidden object scenes. Without giving spoilers, it had one unusual game play element to give some variety. It has a bonus game at the end, and a little side game based on collections. The story was good or at least okay (I don't care that much about stories).

This series seems to follow the plots of Edgar Allen Poe’s stories. Of course, with you and a Detective involved. This one, you have to find one of a set of twins, who appear to suffer from some sort of curse that allows each to feel what the other is going through. HO scenes are fun, minigames challenging, and the plot engaging. Recommend in the bundle, just for ease of purchase.

It's a fairly decent HOG based on the famous story by Edgar Allan Poe, "The Fall of the House of Usher." Of course, there's a lot of liberty taken with how the story plays out, especially given the locations you visit. However, it's not a bad game overall. I've played a lot of hidden object games...probably dozens at this point, so I feel I can point out some of the positives of this specific one. Since this is the Collector's Edition, you get a "bonus chapter/game" (Not really a chapter like most other collector's editions. This one has you analyzing some evidence from an unrelated crime to find out who the culprit is. Hold up if you think this sounds good because it's not as good as it sounds. I'll explain in a bit). You also get wallpapers, music, the cinematics, achievements (that don't matter for Steam at all since they don't count on here), and a strategy guide. The map is a decent feature. I've seen better in other games, but since there's a lot of backtracking, you will want ...

While I didn't care for more supernatural angle this game took compared to other titles in the series, it was still a lot of fun to play. Clearly, the developers put a lot of effort into creating this one as evident by strong plot and creative puzzles. 7/10

I have always been a fan of Edgar Allan Poe Stories, It is very difficult at this time with the pandemic to take your mind of the worries of each day. I am 49 years old and take comfort that there is games that have a story and puzzles and easy to hard difficulties. For those adult gamers it is worth paying for some break from reality.
