This is a goofy little game with a very entertaining premise. While fairly easy, the developers clearly put a lot of love into the game and its characters. Your toolkit is easy to learn, fun to use, and is relied upon often to solve problems and do silly things. The story is also engaging in a way I didn't think it would be, and I had a wonderful time playing through it. If you enjoy shorter games this game is an excellent choice for new and veteran gamers alike.

10/10 would recommend! I played this game on PS4 a couple years ago and totally fell in love with it—100% completed and everything. Fast forward to now, I randomly remembered how much I adored it and figured I’d jump back in for a quick little nostalgia trip… you know, not planning to play the whole thing again. WELL. Cut to me, 10 hours in, almost at 100% again, completely obsessed all over. This game has me in a chokehold (again)! We NEED a Bugsnax 2, please and thank you!! 🐛🍓🔥

Bugsnax is a delightfully quirky and imaginative adventure game that combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and a healthy dose of whimsy to create a uniquely charming experience. Developed by Young Horses, the game invites players to a vibrant, mysterious island inhabited by strange creatures that are part bug, part snack—aptly named Bugsnax. This inventive premise serves as the foundation for a game that’s as much about discovery and storytelling as it is about capturing and understanding the bizarre fauna that populate the island. At the heart of Bugsnax is its engaging and accessible gameplay loop. Players explore diverse biomes ranging from lush forests to sandy beaches, each filled with different species of Bugsnax that behave in distinct and often humorous ways. The mechanics of capturing Bugsnax are simple to grasp but offer surprising depth; players must learn each creature’s habits and vulnerabilities, employing bait, traps, and tools creatively to succeed. The rumors were true folks: Bugsnax really is a horror game with a thin kookly exterior. I saw through it right away when they called the first bugsnak a Strabby. My expectations were low after it pulled out a knife and started yelling "STABBY". However, the game shocked and broke me when they revealed Cinnasnail's real name to be Circumsnail. Let's just say it puts Quake 4's stroggification scene to shame. Don't let your kids or the Silent Hill wiki know about this game.

I haven't beaten the game yet but I'm close to end and clearing up some stuff. But man, this game is so charming I love it. The characters are fun, I wish we got to hang out more and do stuff with some of them. The graphics are colorful and pleasing to look at. But what really hooked me was the Bugsnax themselves. I'm a guy who LOVES Viva Pinata (might be my favourite game series of all time) and the creatures as well as catching them and learning their likes and stuff really scratched an itch I've been dealing with for years. If they made a Viva Pinata like game and expanded on the world and creatures I'd buy that game in a heartbeat. If you like either game and haven't played the other then I BEG you to do so if you can. Solid 8 to 9/10 great but I want more. Edit: Beat the game. It's awesome.
