TLDR A very playable and somewhat unique game that blends minor strategy, tactics and satisfying top-down arcade action in an attractive package. The Review This was one of those rare moments when I randomly noticed something in the Steam store page rotation that leads me to try something on release day. I figured at $5, it would be hard to go wrong. Turns out it was worth every dollar and more, given that it provided a very enjoyable ten hours to finish the campaign on normal. The game places you in command of the eponymous Battlecruiser, a sole survivor of a destroyed colony against an invading force. You are presented with a sector map across which you must navigate and harass the enemy in order to reduce their resources and ultimately attack their base. Each turn, you can choose to attack a target or may instead be forced to defend against an enemy fleet, which moves the game to a top-down view of the action for the duration of the mission. There are a number of d...

This game scratches a particular itch, which was bothering me since Stellar Impact. Simple but enjoyable, 'just one more mission' type. Some room for polishing remains, but generally a well executed and rarely visited concept. Recommended. One of the features I would REALLY love to see here is remapping controls, though.

Randomly found this game on Steam! I love it! It is the Galactica/Yamato game I never knew I wanted. Really fun!

The game is fun. It's a slow-paced shmup/TD (shooter defense?) Between engagements, it requires some strategic thought. Although, I can see that the game might get repetitive (haven't played very long -- hopefully I'm wrong). What brought me to the review so quickly is the lack of information on game mechanics. A simple list of key commands would go a long way here. And, there is no information on the two currencies that I am collecting, saving and spending. The tutorial is broken -- I won the first tut battle automatically (just an after-action report). In the first actual battle, my shield came up automatically for a few moments. In the second battle, it did not. Maybe there's a key I'm supposed to be pressing? No info on that. I think in the first battle, I pressed the the '2' key for the shield. Something launched from my ship when I hit the '1' key. The shield also rotated by itself, maybe to cover the strongest enemy? Can I rotate the shield myself? Also, when I kill an oppone...

The game looks good. I tried it for almost 1 hour and it seems like it would be a fun game. However the controls cannot be customised and I found the ship hard to control because I could not set the keys the way I like them. There is no reason a game in the 21st century can't have the keyboard customised the way you want. One other thing I did not like was that although you were supposed to be flying through space, there was no feeling that you were moving. Other games use particles or slight background movement to indicate that you are moving. The only way I could tell I was moving was a red circle around the combat area approaching when I was about to leave the area.

Not yet ready to decide on a rating, so defaulting to Recommend. My first impression is within one minute of opening the game, I've already found a bug. Starting the tutorial, after going through some text, it asks me to attack the battle fleet to get resources to upgrade. When I click attack, the sector loads, them immediately goes to a victory screen with no resources gained and a message that I defeated the forces. Then just after the Fit screen, the tutorial ends. Edit: looks like the dev just released a patch for the tutorial issue. Will check it out and see if it's working properly now.

Space Battlecruiser (SB) has a generic name, but it's actually an XCOM-like roguelite where the enemy has its own agenda and your job is to disrupt it, while they react to your attacks. Unfortunatley, the difficulty curve was not tuned properly, the game's just too hard, and the end boss too tough to be an enjoyable game. As a single battlecruiser that escaped the alien attack, you have survived. Now it is time to strike back by taking out the enemy HQ. However, it will not be easy. Enemy HQ is heavily defended. You probably have better chance attacking the outposts and the sector defense fleets, but you cannot dawdle either, as the enemy convoy is carrying material to the shipyard and they are building new strike fleets coming after you. If you have the firepower you can go after the convoys, or the mines, but it is up to you. Jump from system to system, attack enemy fleet, attack starbase, raid enemy convoy, repel enemy attack, retreat if necessary. It is up to you. In actual com...

Good game: its fun, fun to upgrade, fun to shoot. Worth the money for sure. Note to Devs: make more like this, with more depth and more progression. I will buy.

The game is AWESOME! The concept of a lone battlecruiser hunted by a ruthless invading alien species is pretty cool. It's not for everyone. It's NOT an arcade game; It's a slow, tactical approach to (space) naval combat. As it's actually 2D, it's enjoyable and comparable to naval combat in reality. 99% of the big "OHSHIT" moments are the player's fault on not planning aproach to several enemies, like ignoring that two unknown dots in the radar on the left while going for one more run vs that cruiser, IE... There's plenty of time to plan everything, but being reckless will lead to unescapable "OHSHIT" moments.

the game can be fun, but mostly its extremely boring... the edge of the map throws right back into the map, instead of exiting the area like you would expect, to another area... the controls are limited and well odd, the premise is kind of a good one but man it needs some serious improvement... there is a huge issue with the sound it will take your head off when you start the game and start trying to adjust stuff, there is not much there to adjust... part of the problem is this is basically a 2D version of the much more interesting and fun Rebel Galaxy... 5 bucks maybe, less would be better, for what it is its ok but i think a little more work should have been done with gameplay in general. the best thing i can say about this game is that the controls could be used by anyone and monkeys (or snowflake lgbt's). im marking no on here because i do not enjoy the mindlessness of the game your only go is to cross the map and destroy the 'overlord'. this game is great for doing something mi...
