most underrated newblood fps imo, deserves a lot more love and gives me a strong sense of nostalgia like no other retro game has before
Game doesn't try too hard, and that's a good thing. Fast paced, long enough to be worth the money, but not too long to make it repetitive. The death voice animation makes me moist.
Found this game randomly during a sale and finally fired it up. Incredibly addicting, if you like OG Doomlikes this is a game you will enjoy! Nothing ground breaking but just a fun hack-em-up-and-kill-em game
I played the first two chapters of Amid Evil two years ago, and dropped it because I was bored. I still had it on my SSD and gave it another shot only to remember how mediocre this game is. It is not bad, but it is very uninspired. The strategy in every room in the game through three chapters is to circle strafe. That is the entire game, circle strafing. Utterly boring. I am surprised at the overall good reception. However it mostly looks dishonest. Only 23% of players have beaten chapter 3. And even half of those people drop the game before finishing, like I'm about to. That tells me that the vast majority of players agree with my assessment that the game is incredibly boring. 4/10 from a player that still thinks Doom 1993 Doom 2 Duke Nukem 3D and Quake 2 are great FPS and fun to this day. This game is not well designed.
Fist review I'm writing for steam. I've played through the campaign and DLC on hard difficulty. Having played through the whole game, I'm pretty confused at the high praise this game got. To start, art design has a unique gothic direction and level design was varied enough to keep me engaged through most of my playthrough. I can also somewhat appreciate the minimal approach to gameplay similar to old school shooters. Even on a high difficulty, gameplay is still pretty relaxed and I found myself playing this game while I listen to sports or a podcast. I would not say this game is bad, but nothing about it really impressed me and there were definitely some annoying aspects which I bet will turn people away. 1. The guns - Anyone who has played the game for a few hours will have unlocked/found every weapon the game has to offer. Without alt fire or interesting weapon quirks, the dryness of the gun play will really hit after the 10 hour mark. - Weapons are slow to switch and slo...
I really liked this game. The aesthetics are wonderful and the levels are well designed but nothing has soured me on a game as hard as EPISODE: 5 - The Forges. If you can, either avoid that level as long as you can, or get it done early. I love nothing more in my fast-paced boomer shooter with floaty movement than precise and timed jumps in a level that will have you backtracking over and over. You have entire floors be made out of segmented struts you need to jump over or risk falling trough with high damage enemies like a swarm of Spiked-Balls that chase you. Incredible. I really enjoyed my time but that Episode has legitimately soured me on the game.
simple gameplay loop and idea but it is put to fantastic use. every one of the 7 areas has its own cool stuff going for it and hardly drags on or gets frustrating if you take breaks at reasonable intervals. the graphics are an appealing mix of high quality art and the low poly and bill board technology of older games. a decently challenging experience on normal difficulty for a relatively inexperienced FPS player like myself and im scared of what the higher one is like
UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE OF A GAME, IF YOU WANT A GAME THAT FEELS LIKE THOSE DARK FANTASY TIKTOKS, THIS IS YOUR GAME.
Excellent fantasy-themed FPS from New Blood and Indefatigable. Perfect if you've ever wanted to be a four-eyed eldritch god-elf that shoots planets at people.
