Great party game. Movement feels great and battles are hectic. Plus the game has a lot of game modes that keep the game fun.

4 out of 5 For a game that clearly was made to play with others you'll be surprised at how fun it can be to play alone and the many different challenges and party modes you will have fun with. The controls are easy to learn but hard to master, and the games are quick so it's really hard to get bored. Positive: there's a lot of customization available, specially in the party mode, that's the best mode this game has to offer, even against the ai you will always have fun, you don't win or lose immediately in each round, your score grows a bit in each round until you've completed the whole party mode, and that keeps you from getting impatient or frustrated, you'll be always exited and hooked to your current game! Negative: you'll see that the sport-type challenges (soccer, basket ball and volley ball) are the most frustrating of the challenges and it's difficulty doesn't change with the 4 different game difficulty settings, it's usually the same experience if you play against the ai in t...

At first, I thought this game was about robots and hooks… booiii, I was wrong! It’s way more than that! I saw passion; I felt love and smelled the truth! This game made me rethink about friendship and family. So… my best friend, Joseph "Joe" Baynes… I finally got the courage to call him… I invite him over last night just to play this gem. Context: Joe married my crush (Melissa) some years ago; I was pissed and lonely for a while… I always saw Melissa as my soul mate and a potential wife… Anyway, he came to my place and we talked like nothing happened; it was beautiful, nevertheless, he was stinking with a funny smell; I never figured out what was the smell or where did he come from… Also, he was wearing some fancy glasses, just after realizing that, I noticed he was using a cotton patch in his right eye. At that point, I thought he will be having struggles playing Hookbots; booii, I was wrong! Joe kicked ass last night! Hooks and joy all dispersed in my room, just lik...

Who is the idiot that thought it would be a good idea to release a game like this with no online multiplayer? Remote play is garbage. . .

Reminds me of classic Smash Bros in all the right ways, while still having it's own unique flavor. The hookshot mechanics are a lot of fun, there's decent variety as far as items without there being too many to remember, and they're all visually distinct so it's easy to tell what you're picking up at a glance. All of the characters feel unique while being similar enough to try a new character without too much of a learning curve. The controls are pretty standard for the genre, so those familiar with similar games can pick it up and play without much trouble. The single player modes are pretty similar to what you get from Smash Bros, but are different enough to stand on their own merits. The sports ball minigames are weird, but pretty fun. Overall if you want something in the same vein as classic Smash Bros but with it's own unique flavor I'd highly recommend it, solid 9/10 for what it is with my main complaint being lack of online matchmaking.
