When I put the fancy pants on, no one can stop me

Wanted to play this game hoping it would be fun like the old games but the game... just isn't polished like the previous ones were. While momentum and combat is decent, I could tell a LOT of the platforming design wasn't great from the start of the game. Slides wouldn't line up or feel satisfying sometimes like they should. Which Fancy Pants really hinges on. The bonus levels are more frustrating than they are fun. Getting hats also didn't feel good as I would rather have Fancy Pants keep his iconic hair. Another thing is you don't collect the "snail shells" as I call them and they only exist as to give you health and lives in this game. Which makes them not worth collecting. Not surprising since this game is more of a linear point A to point B game rather than a world to collect things in aside from the hats/colors. This game has been almost my entire personality since I first played it.

I love SFPA, and for a long time it was my favourite title in the franchise. However, I've grown to be older and more critical, and I can say for sure that this is definitely not the best game in the Fancy Pants Adventures franchise. HOWEVER, that does not mean that the game is bad, so to speak. In fact, there are plenty of things that this game does differently to its older counterparts. SFPA's animation is spot-on, being the best in the the series by far. All animations are done perfectly, for every enemy and NPC, which really did tell me one amazing thing about the game: that progress was being made in the franchise. The story is great, keeping things nice and fresh like the old games nailed every time. There were some reappearances of older characters, and I enjoyed seeing every cameo or spoken reference. Not as fresh as it was in childhood, but still fancy and solid!

This series has been a staple of my childhood. Every single button pressed and the movement reminds me of that very first time I beat the series on flash. I’d love to see this series get expanded more and more.
